Get schooled by a 43 yr old that everyone considered washed will completely destroy your confidence. Side note, Pavlik has to be the best White American boxer of the 21st century right? Unified middleweight champ with 3 defenses is really damn good.

Nah Hopkins was the best 43 year old you're likely to ever see in the ring! He wasn't washed at all. And went on after the Pavlik fight to unify Light Heavyweight world titles and beat the likes of Jean Pascal and Tavoris Cloud.

I meant that the public and pundit perspectives at the time was that Hopkins was on the downturn not that he actually was.

I just talked to Joe Mesi at the Lewiston NY Italian Festival this past weekend. He's a pretty big, wide shouldered guy. He seems to hold bittersweet memories of the fight game. I wish that I could've talked to him longer, but my girlfriend showed up to the conversation and asked to take a picture of me with him, cutting the boxing talk short.

Easily Tszyu. Guy went from outboxing fundora in the first 2 rounds before the cut to taking a career altering beating from both fundora and murtazaliev that made him washed at the age of 30. Keep in mind that even though that fundora lost to mendoza, he was outboxing him until that stoppage.

I wonder what would have happened if he took an entire year off after that brutal Murtazaliev fight. When Pacquiao got KO´d by Marquez, Roach ordered him to do no boxing training for a while, which lasted about 8 or 9 months. Manny partook in sports, but as far as I know he avoided any trauma to his head.
And Manny came back strong, which is rare for a man his age who just got brutally KO´d.

Tszyu was back in the gym relatively fast, and fought again just 6 months after the loss, and then 3 months later he fought Fundora again.

Tszyu's team should've pulled him out with that cut and got the NC. They could've then rematched without the extra 10 rounds of damage he took while struggling to see. I reckon he'd be a different fighter today if they'd have done that.

****en oath. He would have beat Fundora in the rematch with ease. He wouldn't have fought Murtzaliev or Fundora rematch.

Only the referee can stop the fight and declare NC. Corner stoppage means a TKO loss.

Roy Jones. Went from one of the P4P best to being a shell of himself after the first KO loss to Tarver.

Meldrick Taylor was downhill after the first Chavez loss.

Michael Nunn's career was a steady decline after the loss to Toney.
