"To me it seems Fury really didn't have many relevant and dangerous opponents."

This is an ignorant statement. Champ Wlad away and champ Wilder away x3 were relevant and dangerous opponents, and Fury was the underdog 3 times in those 4 fights. Champ Usyk x2 was a relevant and dangerous opponent, and was the favourite in the rematch. So that is 6 fights just there, all against likely future HoF's, with two opponents and 3 fights being against widely considered ATG's, with 4 of those fights against ATG punchers (Joshua may be in that category too, and he's also a likely HoF). How many HW champs can you name who had at least 5 fights as the underdog?

"He won't even be close to the relevance of the klitschko or wilder wins or the first chisora one either"

So "Joshua 1 won't even be close to the relevance of Chisora 1"?

Lunatic statement. You even contradict it by arguing how dangerous Joshua is even at this stage, surely more dangerous than Chisora ever was:

"if old fury actually manages to even win against joshua, as joshuas punches are as dangerous to his by now very hittable self as his boxing ability is to joshua"

This is a combination of scrambled arguments, seemingly grasping at anything to discredit Fury.

"And yes I also feel that tyson is seen as big in lewis' legacy"

Exactly. And Lewis was prime, whereas near-36 Tyson was basically shot. That's a far bigger prime gap than between Fury and Joshua now.

"If that is the case I think the fight will just be forgotten"

There is almost no chance of that. If one of them gets KO'd it will be replayed endlessly, talked about for decades and referenced as "the last fight of the post-Klitschko golden era". It's a fight with enormous interest even now, hence it's going to be one of the biggest money fights of all time, potentially top 3.

If Fury beats Joshua then he has an ATG HW resume, no question. Only Usyk is ahead in the last 23 years. Wlad would be the next closest but at that point it's an easy case that he's behind Fury, and the likes of Vitali and Joshua are nowhere near.

Good points. Only one I would disagree with is that no matter how this fight goes, it won't be forgotten. For both fighters this is a top 3 win and settles a historic rivalry, even if far too late.

Of course, you'll always have one side or the other go "b-but prime for prime!" but that will be nothing more than pure guesswork on their part.

They're crap, dishonest points. "Chisora 1 was a much more relevant win than Fury beating Joshua would be".

At the time when Chisora 1 actually took place? I wouldn't entirely disagree. AJ isn't really much more than a name at this point, is very far from his prime and appears to be damaged beyond repair. The guy almost got knocked out in the first round by a random boxer ffs.

I would still rate AJ as Fury's third best win overall, but the win would have lost the majority of its luster and value at this point.

Haha this is the first time I am being attacked like this so let me expand on what I meant.

    1. With 'many opponents' i actually meant opponents and not fights. I we're talking about fights, the joshua fight won't be in the top 4 of fury's fights by relevance. Considering opponents he actually had only a few relevant ones. Klitschko, wilder, chisora and then you have to start counting past prime whyte, ngannou, hammer etc. Also I meant to say relevant wins Over relevant fights. Then you have to exclude usyk (whom he obviously didn't want to Fight, btw).

Extra point: i assume the losses against usyk (where fury looked really good) will do him more service legacy wise then an ugly win against joshua would.

Btw i can't imagine fury being the underdog in wilder 2 and 3. How? After winning the First Fight and getting up after wilder landed his shot, his only hope and failed to keep him down or finish him? After being obviously fitter than for the first Fight?

    2. The chisora vs joshua relevance is maybe closer than i said, but what I said also makes sense. Chisora then would beat Joshua now I would say. And fury was young, it was a formative win and will be remembered as a big step in furys career if i am not totally wrong. Also chisora went on to do so much. Now again - if joshua and fury look good in their fight that will be more relevant. But if they perform as is to be expected it will be crickets and disappointment afterwards.

    3. You say i contradict myself by saying how dangerous joshua is. I meant he is dangerous to fury who is also way past it as we have already seen against makhmudov. You wouldn't bet on Joshua vs usyk, kabayel, dubois etc. I wouldn't even bet on him vs huni. Or ajagba. If it wasn't prenga but vianello against joshua last weekend, we wouldn't be talking about a joshua fury fight...

    4. You say i want to discredit fury, but actually i want to discredit both joshua and fury. Not for their career though. I liked following them when they actually applied themselves. Fury more so than joshua. Fury had an amazing career and i was a big fan for a long time. Contrary to most i love the fury Klitschko Fight and what he was able to do (though peds?). Then the wilder story. That is the closest thing to an ali story in this century.

But these days both are bad for boxing. Hogging all the Attention they can get with their **** fights and poor performances. Peoples eyes should be freed to look at those that are actually at the top and should ask for them to fight and instead the money goes into past it big names again like with mayweather vs pac where both were not financially punished for fighting way after their prime and finally giving us a mediocre fight. This will be the same and they will also earn a lot of money as you say.

Tldr: no discrediting their careers but their current actions.

Lastly you claim fury is clearly above klitschko (with a win over old joshua). I am pretty sure you are in the minority there unless the fight shows us two great performances. The polls and threads i think i remember around here usually have klitschko higher than Fury. He is in most top ten lists and Fury rather below the top ten. But well it might change, who knows. In my opinion it won't because of a mediocre old people fight.

I'm of the opinion that Fury, AJ, and Wilder are all absolute locks for the IBHOF. So in the long run, I think only his victory against Wladimir and his 2 official victories against Wilder would be seen as better.

    1. How many "big opponents" did Hall of Famer Riddick Bowe have? 1? What about Hall of Famer Vitali Klitschko? 1? Or ATG Wlad? 2?

Fury has 3, about to be 4. Claiming Fury did not have many dangerous opponents, when he was the underdog 5 times and is on the cusp of his 7th fight against a likely hall of famer, is insane.

"Fury did not want to fight Usyk"

    This is pathetic.

"I really appreciate Fury's win over Wlad but PED's..."

    Stop lying.

"Btw i can't imagine fury being the underdog in wilder 2"

He was. Fury had received much more damage than Wilder in fight 1, was 1 second or a subjective ref call removed from a KO loss, Fury was coming off a war with Wallin, the rematch was in Vegas etc. Fury was the betting underdog vs Chisora 1, Wlad, Wilder 1, Wilder 2 and Usyk 2, and would have been vs Haye if Haye hadn't ducked it a week out.

    2. Fury-Chisora 1 is astronomically less relevant than Fury-Joshua, yet you claimed it's "far more relevant". And even by your own implicit admission, AJ is much more dangerous than Chisora, who lacked the size, athleticism, skill and power to do anything much to Fury.

Even if they don't fight to their best, a sloppy shootout between Fury and AJ will be hugely exciting, regarded as must-see TV, a top 3 money fight in boxing history. There will be no "crickets".

    4. You sound like a miserable person, hating for the sake of it. Fury and Joshua have been great for HW boxing. I don't give a damn about Kabayel or Itauma. Everyone will complain the division is a wasteland when the "big four" are retired. No one is forcing you to watch their fights, or comment on these threads.

"The polls and threads i think i remember around here usually have klitschko higher than Fury."

Of course. Because posters of your exact type, who overwhelmingly slated Wlad back in the day as a boring chinny hypejob wrestler, will inevitably claim "Wlad was so great compared to the current dire crop". It's just a stick to beat the current fighters with combined possibly with nostalgia, despite no one actually wanting to relive the days of Wlad-Mormeck or Wlad-Povetkin.

If/when Fury beats Joshua, it will be an easy argument. Fury would be 4-2-1 vs HoF's, Wlad 0-2, with 5 losses overall.

I think the voting consensus is correct that beating Joshua would be Fury's 3rd or 4th best win.

The case for Joshua 1 over Wilder 3 is that even though 35 Wilder is better than 37 Joshua, Fury is way further past his prime now, he'd already fought Wilder twice and demolished him in the previous fight, and Fury-Joshua 1 is a higher pressure event.

Seeing as anyone with a pulse could beat Joshua now, it would just be a win. Nothing significant at all.

Most of the fighters of this era will not be missed since they did such a crappy job of facing their contemporaries and have such thin resumes.

How is losing them a big loss?

Based on the prenga fight Joshua is no longer top 10

The division minus the so called big four has plenty of talent
    Itauma
    Hrgovic
    Kabayel
    Dubois
    Wardley
    Surov
    Riakporhe
    Yallyev
    Sanchez

I really wouldn't get my hopes up about anyone missing Fury

I mentioned in Britain. It’s for sure the most important for their careers for British fight fans. Khan vs Brook weren’t on the mainstream level these two are. This fight, albeit at least half a decade passed its sell by date, defines an era of British Boxing. It’s bragging rights.

One will forever be placed above the other based on the outcome of this fight regardless of primes. The outcome holds more weight than any other fight in their careers.

Usyk has the best HW resume in the history of the sport and this will be recognised in the future, as the old American hype narratives continue to burn out.

The next gen are not that interesting, even though there is ability there. No one cares much about Kabayel, Dubois, Itauma, Hrgovic, Sanchez, and most of them have already been beaten.

When/if Usyk fights and beats Wilder, he will have beaten every HoF HW of his era: Fury x2, AJ x2, Dubois x2, and Wilder

When/if Fury and Joshua fight, Fury will have fought Usyk x2, Wlad, Wilder x3 and Joshua x1/x2

Joshua will have fought Usyk x2, Wlad, Dubois and Fury x1/x2

Wilder will have fought Usyk and Fury x3

This game can be played with previous eras:

Where was Bowe vs Tyson? Bowe vs Lewis?

Lewis vs Tyson when Tyson wasn't on the cusp of 36? When Holyfield wasn't 36-37?

Only Holyfield fought everyone in or around their best. But even there, prime Tyson ducked him by pulling out of their fight with an injury and then going to prison.
