How could this not factor into his complete lack of punch resistance. Nobody wants to bring it up. Is it considered insensitive or do they really think that has nothing to do with it? Also he looked like an old fighter in there.
Was he KO'd for 10 minutes? Is there any reliable testimony on his injuries? Hearn saying "AJ broke like 24 ribs" doesn't count. AJ suffered what were reportedly "minor injuries", though it's very possible that was deliberate minimisation. I'd be surprised if he didn't sustain some physical damage as it was a brutal crash. How much? No way to know. The Dubois KO was brutal and I'd be surprised if that didn't play a greater role in AJ's shot chin.
AJ's chin has gotten worse and worse through the years and the car crash sure didn't help. Guys are going to be lining up to have a crack at him now.
People do bring it up, to the point where it feels like a pre-written excuse to deny Fury of any credit when he eventually beats him. Would it have an effect on him? Maybe? But he was getting his chin cracked far before that accident took place, and he just isn't the same fighter he was since his losses to Usyk (arguably Ruiz 1).
AJ always gets back up that is the difference. His KD against Ruiz messed him up for the whole fight, and was a back of the head/type shot. Remember AJ was going to blast Ruiz out there but got too confident. Outside of this, who else has properly wobbled him? Daniel Dubois brutalised him, which is fair enough, but Daniel hits freaking hard - especially early on, and he landed on AJ early. Usyk landed barrages on him and didn't take him out. Prenga rocked AJ...but he's quite clearly a heavy hitter, but he gets back up. People forget that AJ has been out of the ring for 2 years since his last fight (where Dubois KOd him) - Jake Paul fight does not count in the slightest as a real fight
For a cash out fight, taking on Fury is the way. If AJ is serious about getting back to the top, he has to rematch Dubois. Lennox Lewis avenged his losses to become a legitimate atg. Getting knocked out isn't fatal for a résumé if you avenge it but ducking a rematch is detrimental
