Now that Dana White is softening his stance toward the four major world boxing organizations I'm optimistic that after Mikaelian Benavidez (if he wins, as I expect) could have an interesting fight with Opetaia (who meanwhile seems likely to fight with CBS, obviously I think Opetaia will win here too). I'm curious to see who Cruz's opponent will be in September.

Well that would be swell. Opetaia getting someone meaningful in the ring with him.

Benavidez fighting opetaia would surprise me like crazy though. He wouldn't be the betting favorite, but he is already a cash cow.

That would be highly highly unusual. But all the props in the world to benavidez if he gets into the ring with opetaia without catchweights or any a-side shenanigans!

I don't think Benavidez would ask for a catchweight to face Opetaia, he didn't ask for one to face Zurdo Ramirez, putting in a great performance, winning the WBO/WBA world titles and proving he's very comfortable at cruiserweight. I hope Benavidez-Opetaia takes place in 2027, it's one of the most interesting fights the boxing scene has to offer today.
