Prime Joe Frazier vs Prime Lennox Lewis

How the fight would actually go is hard to say, Lewis never fought anyone close to FOTC Frazier, we never even got to see Bowe on the inside with him in late rounds, no one he fought ever targeted the body like Frazier, the best left hooker he fought was Morrison who was levels below Frazier

Frazier should be able to get inside and stay on top with his heart, determination, toughness, the dog in him, but Lewis should also be able to shove him back and make the fight boring, Frazier has the clear stamina advantage though and I think ultimately Frazier would be able to drag him down in deep water, Lewis was way slower than even post exile Ali, Ali still had good speed in FOTC and Frazier was beating him to the punch, FOTC Frazier was too slick for the uppercuts Lewis was landing on Tyson, Tyson ended up just being a sitting duck

Lewis would become cautious after the first few decent shots from Frazier

Basically Frazier should win, but Lewis could spoil it

 

Lewis likely wins by a unanimous decision as he's just too big, too strong and too skilled for Frazier. People seem to think that Lewis is just gonna steamroll him because Foreman did twice, while Lewis is bigger than the Foreman that dropped Frazier multiple times they don't fight the same way at all and Foreman was more willing to get hit than Lewis. Lewis isn't gonna try and go for Frazier like he did Michael Grant either.

It's probably similar to the Lewis/Tua fight but not as bad as Frazier wasn't lazy like Tua.

I can see Frazier beating the likes of Holmes, Tyson, Marciano, Louis etc but the Super Heavyweights like Lewis and The Klitschko Brothers would be problems for him.

 

Joe is foozled by the jab and floored by the uppercut, but for the most part is all over Lewis and belting him all over the ring by the 7th.

 

Lewis too big, strong and crafty both on the inside and out would be a horrible night for Frazier really don't see how he can win this. Lewis's jabs and right hands would nail him at distance and if he tries to get close Lewis's uppercut would make life hell.

if that fight had not been stopped Foreman would have killed Joe. Frazier would not see round 12,imo

 

My theory is that Kingston Foreman would have beaten FOTC Frazier, and so would peak Lewis.

Frazier wasn't cooked Tyson but Lewis showed the blueprint how he would use his size advantage to deal with Joe's pressure.

 

Yes, styles. Joe crouching, coming into an rather large and accomplished uppercut proponent.

The younger Lewis from 92/93 was technically inferior to the post-95 version trained by Emanuel Steward who dramatically improved Lewis’ balance and shortened his punches. He was technically tighter and more compact under Steward. No doubt about it.

Frazier would find more openings with the younger Lewis—a wild swinger with an unsteady base who loaded up with punches and telegraphed them.

And the Lewis from the late 90s was not more cautious at all. When he had a dangerous assignment, he usually went after guys. Golota and Grant among them.

 

I agree except Golota and Grant were so easy to hit as they were big and had little defense. Frazier was small and would make Lewis miss shots.

I still think Lewis will catch him with uppercuts and win but still , Joe has a chance.

 

Lewis is simply too much. As i said earlier, Frazier keeps surging forward and Lewis is going to alternate between tying him up and letting his hands go. His uppercuts will simply be too much. It's over in 5 or less for mine. It's just a bad matchup.

 

This would be a repeat of the first Foreman fight. Lewis way too big and strong for Joe.
