I got Patterson in a good fast paced scrap. That is as long as Dokes shows up. Patterson however you cut it
Interesting matchup. A lot of speed on display. It would be murder doing the punchstat numbers accurately.
Again, Floyd is of a different class. Dokes didn't have Floyd's talent, discipline or staying power. A no-doubter for Patterson.
I went with Floyd on points. Prime Dokes was a boxer not a puncher. It would come down to speed and skill which I believe Floyd would best him in
I honestly like the older version of Dokes who fought Holyfield and Ruddock better in a H2H with Floyd. That Dokes sat down on his punches and went to war. I think he’d get a knockdown or two and win a decision. Younger Dokes, whenever you want to consider his prime, probably isn’t as effective against Floyd and it would be a yawner of a fight.
Most people thought Mike weaver deserved to win over dokes in their rematch, and while I think Mike was an underrated heavyweight, the only thing Patterson wasn’t better than him at was maybe punching power. Dokes biggest strength was speed and Floyd has him outmatched even there. I pick Floyd to stop in 7 or 8 rounds.
Dokes normally faded down the stretch in his fights. There is a possibility that Dokes could come out fast and maybe blitz Patterson before he gets warmed up. Dokes sometimes did that and it worked vs Ocasio in their rematch who was awkward and tricky. And also famously vs Weaver even though it was controversial. But barring Dokes surprising Patterson early I think Patterson wins a decision after Dokes tires in the 2nd half of the fight.
