Tito was on another level to Vargas.

I never said he wasn't but Vargas was very competitive against Tito and he hardly got humiliated like you've been claiming.

Taylor was the more skilled of the two, champion in two weight classes, Olympic Gold Medalist, but Vargas was in there with more highly skilled opponents. Taylor has some good wins over McGirt and Davis, almost beat Chavez. Vargas beat Campas, Marquez, Winky, Quartay, Rivera, was competitive with Tito and Mosley. The bigger concern for me was his steroid use and how that may have given him an edge. Vargas earned bigger paychecks and today is training his son. Taylor suffers from permanent brain damage and slurring and has had troubles with the law. If I had to choose, I'd rather have Vargas' career.

Taylor and I agree with those correcting the weird notion that Vargas was outclassed by Tito. That was an all time great fight. That doesnt happen in one sided bouts with a fighter getting outclassed.

Vargas isnt exactly a poster boy for mental fitness after boxing. He talks like he has a mouth full of marbles. Compare that to when he first started getting press and its sad.

It's not considered an iconic fight, Tito was far better.

It most certainly is considered an iconic fight by boxing fans. Many consider Trinidad vs Vargas as the best fight of 2000 just below Barrera vs Morales 1.

I don't understand why you feel the need to keep pushing this false narrative that Trinidad vs Vargas was a "wipeout" when it was far from that. No one is denying that Felix Trinidad is a greater fighter than Vargas but to say that he "outclassed him easily" is pure delusion.

I didn't think Trinidad was considered an ATG

15 title defenses at WW, 3 division world champ, considered as the best fighter from Puerto Rico next to Carlos Ortiz and Wilfredo Gomez. Only losses were to fighters who were bigger than him (Hopkins, Wright, RJJ). Clearly an ATG.

Not at the time, but he was getting there and Vargas was simply seen as a good win along the way.
