The rise of social media is partly to blame as well as the obsession with unbeaten records. You have fighters who are too inclined to just fight once a year, are too afraid to lose their unbeaten records, too greedy for money which leads to fights not getting made, fighters jumping ship to another promotion company that causes more problems, can't seem to stay out of trouble, and would rather fight on Twitter or IG instead of in the ring.

Almost every big sport is as at an all time low. Overregulated, sanitized , stripped of its soul and lacking star power. At least in other sports you are guaranteed a game every weekend though.

The best of boxing are aging out and will likely be retired soon. Usyk, Bivol, Beterbiev, Inoue,Canelo in their mid to late thirties.

Benavidez in his prime but without a competitive dance partner, ducked by Canelo and Bivol.

Fury and AJ running on fumes, hopefully their last fight will be against each other. HW division will sink to a new low once they're gone.

Tank was never serious about fighting an elite level opponent at their peak. Perfect Mayweather protege.

Jermall Charlo is somehow ranked #4 by the WBA.

Haney, Shakur and Keyshawn all refuse to fight each other or price themselves out. Haney and Shakur are like watching paint dry, yawn.

Ortiz and Ennis have been circling around each other since 147 and neither of them appear to be in a hurry to face Fundora.

If Ryan Garcia defeats Conor Benn he'll have the momentum at WW which likely leads to a match with winner of Rolly/Teofimo.

That's the state of boxing today. Grim.

    American boxers are the worst..

    Too greedy and Too Stupid.

how dead is boxing when you got 2 top UK fighters fighting in the US for a heavyweight belt.

when the Turqui gravy train dries up, who is gonna pay these fighters?

It’s a mess. We got Bootz and Vergil at JT middleweight and not fighting..

I would say the talent is at an all time low. Can count 10 boxers with your fingers..

sports as a whole seems to be suffering from a lower level of talent coupled with the softer younger generation mentality. the generations of low birth rates and feminization of society was going to have a massive effect on sports eventually.

I wouuldn't be surprised if at some point mma and boxing become illegal.

I think the rise of the Reddit casual fan has had a strong negative influence on boxing. Marketability is a much more concentrated, easily manipulated thing now. People care less about the real deal because the typical fan cares less about boxing as a whole. The Redditor looks for story lines, personalities, and results that confirm their opinions and feelings about other facets of life. This results in a singular, politically approved, wrong, boring, consensus opinion.

This is most easily demonstrated in the incessant lauding and marketing of Joshua.
