I need to go back and rewatch the DLH fight but from what I remember Vargas started strong and DLH got himself back into it by mid rounds. Then they were pretty much trading some rounds but DLH having won more, I do remember DLH using his right hand much more in this fight. Either way Vargas was never gna beat Trinidad or DLH. DLH started at 130 and stopped him on roids and at his own weight 154.

 

I think Vargas would have lost to DLH no matter what. Trinidad? He's one of these guys that I think gets a bit overrated around here. Maybe not as much as some, but enough. Fernando Vargas with a couple of more years might indeed have decisioned or even stopped Tito.

 

I had Vargas winning five rounds to four after nine rounds, and I thought he was winning the 10th round until DLH landed that monster left hook and essentially stole the round on all three judges scorecards. So I had it 5 to 5 going into the round Vargas was knocked out in.

Missed his potential slightly but he was a fan favourite, impressive early rise in the sport - he had a solid memorable career. Only lost to elites in memorable fights.

Absorbed way too much punishment but that was his style, he was destined to have a short career.

 

Fernando Large Mass has ballooned out to a heavyweight post career. He got fat pretty quickly.
