Floyd ... again he was a much better fighter in the late 60s/early 70s than he was when he was champion.
I think Patterson. Terrell was a huge heavyweight for his era, but not a big puncher, I do think his height and reach might trouble Floyd along with tying him up. Floyd by close decision.
Terrell fought pretty much everyone in the early and mid sixties but seemed to me was one person Floyd avoided and you would see why he might. Ernie would have a huge height reach and weight advantage and he was a good boxer with a good long left jab. Like I always felt he avoided Frazier who was a similar fighter to him except heavier stronger and meaner. Patterson being a smaller heavyweight avoided some bad matchups. Up to before he lost to Ali Terrell was dominating the division and would have to be the favorite to get a decision over Floyd.
I don't like this matchup for Floyd. He would probably try to fight Terrell by ducking beneath Ernie's long jab and fighting on the inside, but he would encounter the same rough, dirty holding and thumbing tactics Terrell used against everyone. It would be a frustrating night and the fans would be booing loudly, cheering those too-few times when Patterson broke through. He was wise to avoid the tall Chicago heavyweight. Almost every opponent looked bad against Ernie.
can be both by close decision, Patterson was.. respectfully,struggling with bigger opponents who knew how to smother instead of being a hardhead hardwick,so Terrell by close decision
Patterson would have no trouble finding the openings against Terrell and probably outpoints him wide.
Hello, GoldenHulk. In spite of the disadvantages, I think Floyd Patterson would win this. It would have been an interesting fight. to watch.
