Of the Jock pugilists which trio are the greatest?
    I've got
    Lynch
    Buchanan
I can't make up my mind on the third.

Depending on what you value, number three could be out of Josh Taylor, Ricky Burns and Jim Watt.

Kenny is overrated, but still a top man, just not 2nd...

names you may not see but should, Johnny H, Tommy M, Jake K, Bert G, Peter K, Chic C, Walter M, John M, Kenny B, Jim W, Scotty H, Ricky B, Josh T and a good few more... like Shaw, Scotland's best ever HW.

    I would have said:

    1) Ken Buchanan
    2) Benny Lynch
    3) Tancy Lee

The saying goes that you learn something new every day, and I did not know that Lee was Scottish until reading your post.

I'll still go Lynch, Buchanan and Taylor as my top 3, but Lee certainly warrants an HM, if only for his victory over Jimmy Wilde.

Lee was one of the earliest fighters, from what I heard/read, that fought 'down' in weight, he was apparently a Bantam cum FW, who knew he could capitalise by competing at Fly...

I can't remember where I first came across that info, but it might have been Denzel Batchelor's little book "British Boxing".

it's truly hard to list a Top 10 out of 25 or more Top Men...

I forgot Elky Clark, Alex Ireland, Jim Brady, Jackie Paterson and even Murray Sutherland.

I know most of these lists are World titlist before qualifying, but so wrong when you think of a Ricky Burns or even Watt, when nearly all mentioned in this thread are far better fighters.

This is why P4P H2H analyses conclude the actual better fighters.

'TF', scheesh... see what I mean.

Would McGowan be so wide of the mark?

    1 Buchanan
    2 Lynch
    3 Taylor

Buchanan was exceptional. He should be talked about more. He passed away a few years ago but before then you never saw him invited to be a pundit or anything.

From what I gather Kenny was not so well liked by the boxing world and viewed as a bit of a bitter fella who liked to talk over too many beers about getting ‘robbed by Duran’.
I might be wrong there but I’m sure that’s the general gist of it?
A shame because he’s one of my favourites to watch and was tough as they come. Unfortunately ran in to Duran who he would never have beat and didn’t seem to accept it very well.

I definitely agree with your choices.

How about Jim Watt for the third?
