That is a different statement entirely

it's a generational thing, in the last 20 years or so a 'generalization' statement used to be an automatic given, understood clearly, now it is used as an 'out of context' opportunity for retribution, the funny thing is, it is still most often clearly understood, but not accepted...

Liston beat plenty of good big men, but you have a bee in your bonnet that he was a weight bully, and despite the evidence to the contrary you aren't ever going to change so there's no point in engaging further with you on this.
In 54 fights Liston fought 10 men heavier than himself and15 within 10lbs or less of his weight so that is 25 times he was not as you insist a, "weight bully".
Ali was the heavier man in 42 of his 61 fights, was he a weight bully?
Frazier was the heavier man in 22 of his 37 fights, was he a weight bully?

If he'd beaten Holyfield, Holyfield would've been old.
If he'd beaten Lewis, Lewis would've been old.

Show me which heavyweight is judged the same way for losing fights a decade+ after winning the title.

And if he'd lost to Tucker, Ruddock, Spinks, Thomas, or Biggs, they would've been great.

    Good post,

it is simple, 'early & late' career losses are not typically strikes against, neither are great showing losses even in peak...

Everybody knows this as factual realities, the problem is, 'some' people use them 'for or against' when taking their immovable or purposeful misleading stands.

What's good & true for one, is true for ALL!

If he’d have lost to those guys, we’d have more excuses and asterisks explaining why those losses don’t count … same as Tyson’s losses that he did incur.

Mike was a year younger than Lennox when they fought, right? And he gave up a belt rather than face Lewis soon after he turned 30 (six years earlier) so he passed up the opportunity to face him closer to prime.

Good points! Changed my perspective - and I’m glad to have a reason to rank Tyson highly!

Maybe at cruiserweight probably wouldn't fight at heavyweight

I’ve regularly heard on this board that Pacquiao was past it for the Mayweather fight when he was the pfp best other than Floyd, was two years younger, and went on to accomplish big things after that whereas Floyd was one foot out the door.

He would, nobody at cruiserweight beats him twice in a row but Usyk
Liston fought aggressively behind his jab against the few bigger men he faced and he was able to slip shots easier against taller men as long as they weren't significantly faster. I think Itauma beats Liston, but Liston beats joshua

It's the other way around: Shavers clearly beat Ali.

I want to see Itauma hit on the chin by a big puncher before I make any predictions about him.I agree Liston beats AJ.
