Mayweather v Duran

First, good to see some familiar faces again, and I'm glad you still continue to hold this forum down.

Second, I'm genuinely curious what fights of Floyd look like the performance and style/tactics that SRL used in that second fight. Forgive me for not remembering these examples straight away.

Third, and I could be mistaken once I see the examples given, it just doesn't seem like Floyd has the same physical attributes, nor did he fight that way against "similar" fighters as Duran. if this is the strategy he would employ against aggressive fighters, why did it look nothing like that against Maidana or Castillo?

To me, and this is only my opinion, I think Floyd would have some success early, and look good at times; but Duran is 100x better than the fighters that gave Floyd the most trouble, and I believe he would feel the power.. the pressure would start to wear on him. At that point I believe he would go into survival mode, not winning mode and therefore lose a clear decision.

 

Poor wording in a hurried post by me once again. I don't mean Floyd can fight LIKE Leonard, I meant he can fight without disengaging with a much more aggressive foe; he essentially made a career out of this. Floyd's movement, athleticism, defence, offence/defence; he used lots of his visually 'pitty pat' punches to force opponents to recalibrate and did not allow them to settle, almost like others use a single jab. Floyd at his absolute best is strong enough and fit enough to 'elegantly bully' Duran, not let him into his 'space', frustrate him and ultimately dishearten him. I really rate Duran but I think Floyd's style and his surprising venom is overlooked and underrated in fights like this. A peak Floyd with healthy hands is a H2H nightmare for most anyone of a similar weight. A will o' the wisp with pop.

“Prime ATG” is a meaningless term that can be applied selectively.

 

In a debate where one guy fought many prime greats and the other didn’t, it is not in any way meaningless.

 

No, Leonard had one meaningful win before fighting Duran, so he was no more of a supposed ATG than Canelo was at the time when he fought Floyd. And Duran lost the rest. Duran is miles ahead ahead of Floyd if we're assigning extra points for losses.
