We're talking about the 175 version of Jones. Jones was a big middleweight, but he wasn’t real light heavyweight. If any of the middleweights like Hagler, Hearns, Robinson, Golovkin, Monzon etc were good enough then should be able to beat this version of Jones, the size difference isn't that big.

I think Jones clears. There are some LHWs that beat him though like Spinks. Beterbiev would also be very dangerous for Jones

I'd a say prime Michael Nunn would be highly dangerous for RJJ. A tall rangy Southpaw who RJJ would have to lead against I think he would struggle.

A name that isn't often mentioned Frankie Liles was very competitive vs RJJ in their 3 amateur fights even dropping him once I believe. It's not a name you'd think of but he could be a very dangerous opponent for RJJ.

Even though I think McClellan is a bit overrated he did beat RJJ in the amateurs and his size and 1 punch KO power would be a major threat.

I feel someone who can close the ring off, force exchanges, throws unorthodox punches and has devastating power, someone who can time Jones with his chin in the air, and no-one fits that description better than Golovkin.

I pick Jones to beat him on points, but Golovkin has a real puncher’s chance.

He can close the ring off and take away guys’ movement, and he can force them into vulnerable positions on the ropes and in the corner.

Jones would be forced to tighten up at times, which he could do off of the ropes, but he didn’t want to have to do that, but he was able to do it against guys who couldn’t find the gaps.

Jones wasn’t as good at judging the trajectory, angle and distance of the punches when he had to defend that way, and that was when he got caught the most. He much preferred to have room.

That fits a Manny Steward trained G-Man more than GGG.

McClellan could be outboxed for stretches and didn’t close the ring off against boxers as well as Golovkin did.

Gerald had the height, reach and weight, to go along with his huge power.

GGG has a small reach for a MW, and he was easy to hit with little head movement.

He barely beat Derev and Jacobs.

Gerald was a good boxer before he quit the Kronk and tried to rely just on his power.

A Manny trained Gerald with excellent timing, would have been much harder to fight than GGG.

    Gerald was huge.

McCellan was quicker than Golovkin though and Gerald could use his height and reach to close the distance.

For whatever it is worth, I think it's more likely that GGG goes the distance and is competitive in a losing effort with RJJ, than it is that GMan does the same.

However, I think it's more likely that GMan lands that 1 huge shot to KO Jones or hurt him to the extent he's vulnerable to stoppage in the follow up attack.

I'd make prime RJJ favourite to beat any version of either.

Michael Nunn poses the most significant threat in terms of stylistic problems. I think Gerald McClellan would have a punchers chance with his height, reach, chin, and dangerous punching power.

The guy who wouldn’t fight him, and the one who doubts that he could have beaten him?

    Yeah.

    Straight to the top.
