This narrative that everyone is ducking a chinny cash cow in Joshua is beyond stupid. Yes, Fury talks a lot of trash and says all sorts of stuff, but what can we do except look at, and hold on to me here Joshua fans, look at THE FIGHTS THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. Fury fought 10 years unbeaten, champion Klitschko IN GERMANY Fury fought undefeated champion Wilder IN AMERICA (twice!) Fury fought undefeated champion Usyk in Saudi (twice!) - this was only 18 months ago by the way The biggest fights ACTUALLY HAPPENED (with Fury doing quite well, by the way). Look at the track record. Somehow this guy most of you hate and believe is ducking everyone, for the most part, FOUGHT THE BIGGEST POSSIBLE FIGHTS. Right now Joshua is that fight for Fury. Look at the history, it's absolutely the type of fight Fury has taken through his career. Then we have Joshua, the carefully calculated career, the billion dollar marketing machine, Eddie Hearn constantly running interference, the champion of the doofus casual boxing fan. What does his last 8 years look like? No confidence, constant tune-ups, only fought his "peer" when Usyk "The Cat" was still in the bag, moving up, and wasn't considered Him. Now that he's been slapped around the ring by a guy no one has heard of who is surprised that Fury is not actually next?
Are you crazy? Fury had a fight with Joshua within his grasp throughout his career. For reasons known to him, he always chose a different path, whether through no fault of his own. When he chose Wilder, even though the fight with Joshua was the biggest and most possible to organize, he was at fault for the first time for their fight not happening at the peak moment. Later, after the turmoil, before the third fight with Wilder, he uttered the magical "sign the contract immediately, you have 24 hours," and if not, goodbye... And they agreed to his terms. Then it turned out that Fury couldn't even manage his own affairs and "had" to fight Wilder. Since he's now crowing about "greedy Hearn and AJ," he could have paid Wilder a severance fee. He would have made a fortune anyway. He chose differently. One could go on and on about who was braver and more diligent in fulfilling his duties as champion. Fury has no leverage here, from cheating Klitschko, to selecting Chisora for the trilogy, to avoiding mandatory defenses. But that's not important. The fact is that there was some kind of "discord" in the organization of this fight. It's normal given their situation and their negotiating history (Fury, for reasons known only to himself, hates Hearn and AJ and often acts as if he wants to spite them, regardless of the fact that he loses out). Do Joshua and Hearn want more money because of the US and taxes? They just need to reach an agreement. Considering that this could be one of AJ's last big fights, it shouldn't surprise anyone that the guy and his promoters want to get the biggest slice of the pie. This isn't avoidance. It's simply a negotiation phase. It could just as easily be that Fury is the problem, but he'll pretend everyone is afraid of him. That's how it is in sports. We should keep our fingers crossed that they will come to an agreement instead of writing such hopeless and nonsense posts like yours.
The only talking point Joshua fans are clinging to is that Fury and Wilder have avoided a very, very winnable fight for THE MOST MONEY out of a combination of greed, personal spite, and fear, despite taking MORE RISK for LESS MONEY elsewhere. Great logic fellas.
Absolute joke fight . Happened way past best and should be boycotted we shouldn’t allow ourselves to be scammed by these promotional companies
If it falls apart this time, I don't think I'll care anymore. At that point, one of them should see if they can get the WBA off Gassiev.
This is a very strong argument against which you can only lower your head and cry. If someone has a choice between a gigantic fight that everyone is waiting for, but still chooses a weaker one for less money and less prestige, there's no other explanation than "taking the easy route." By joining forces, Wilder and Fury tried to thumb their noses at Hearn, who had the biggest star in heavyweight division under his belt at the time. Joshua was already earning the money Wilder had generated from his few fights. Fury, after his comeback, had shown virtually nothing of substance. The only thing that saved them was that these fights became such classics and built incredible history. That's why people forgot. Of course, Joshua slipped up at the time, but that doesn't change the fact that both had a willing Joshua within their grasp at the best of times, but they chose differently. Claiming that AJ avoided them is pathetic and untrue. They avoided him, wanting to build their position first so they could dictate their terms (especially Wilder, Fury, either had concerns after sparring with AJ or was suffering from a personal injury). Whatever the fight, which currently has maybe 75% of its potential, is in question because of the financial implications. This has nothing to do with avoiding someone out of fear, but with simple calculations based on career stages and other factors. But as an AJ hater, he can entertain these strange fantasies about Joshua being afraid of Fury his entire life... Maybe it'll make you feel better...
One of them (or both) doesn’t want that match to happen. They’re already at the end of their careers, and it’s unlikely they’ll compete for the title again. We boxing fans shouldn’t have to not want to see that fight when they clearly aren’t ashamed. It would have been better for AJ to get beaten by Fury than by Andy Ruiz and Dubois. I’m talking about the period when Fury came back from 'retirement'.
So Fury and Wilder took risk by facing each other to...stick it to Eddie Hearn? They're "lucky" that fights between two of the main three faces of a division were classics? They were both so afraid of Joshua that in the past 7-8 years between them they fought: Each other 3x Usyk 2x Luis Ortiz 2x Parker Zhang Chisora 2x Whyte They fought all these guys for less money, but were both terrified of more money and less risk with Joshua? Fury, the guy who fought champion versions of Klitschko, Wilder x 2, Usyk x 2, undefeated Chisora, chased down David Haye when he was prime, has been ducking Joshua for a decade? Because of...sparring? Joshua fans are so far beyond delusional. They will buy anything, repeat anything, believe anything. I thought the Jake Paul fight would slap some sense into you guys but it has done the opposite.
You do realise Fury ducking Joshua is literally on film? Go watch Fury’s Netflix show from 2022. Fury and Joshua were in negotiations and Fury started making up deadlines to derail the fight. His manager even calls him and says that if he just gives it a couple days they could easily have the fight signed. Fury gets off the phone and immediately goes on social media to say if the fight isn’t signed in an hour then it’s off. He then walks around clock-watching until his made-up deadline has passed, then he literally starts jumping with joy and celebrating because he doesn’t have to fight AJ. The fact anyway thinks the reason they haven’t fought is anything other than Fury making sure the fight doesn’t happen is crazy to me. Joshua signed to fight in 2021, it was only the Wilder arbitration that prevented it. And Joshua seems to have signed to fight him again but Fury/Netflix/Turki then decided to go against the contract and try to make the fight in the US. Other people that they both fought or didn’t fight is irrelevant to why this fight didn’t happen.
Why do you think both Fury and Wilder don't want to fight Joshua for a mega payday? Is it because of how easily Dubois, Ruiz, or Usyk defeated him?
I don’t know, you’d have to ask them. I just know the fact that Fury blatantly ducked Joshua and it’s on film.
The position of Joshua fans that he's being ducked by multiple guys goes against basic logic of human motives, the fight history of the fighters themselves, and the reality of Joshua's situation for the past 8 years. When asked "why", we get: "I don't know, you'd have to ask them". Folks, there's nothing I can do here. It doesn't add up that a chinny cash cow who got tumble dried by Andy Ruiz 8 years ago and hasn't recorded a good win since is being ducked by ANYONE, let alone two star HW's who could, and probably would, absolutely beat him. It's a situation where the most likely answer, that Eddie Hearn believes a loss to either causes irreparable harm to the brand and the cost benefit analysis for maximizing revenue results in a "no go" decision, is simply what it is. It's a business decision on Joshua's side. Let's call it what it is and always has been. These fans are even defending US vs. UK tax arguments when the fight is 10 years overdue.
