Terry Norris also caught Sugar Ray Leonard, Donald Curry and Meldrick Taylor at a time when they were not at their best.

And then most recently Bam Rodriguez when he fought Carlos Cuadras, Srisaket Sor Rungvisa, and Juan Francisco Estrada.

 

Jack Johnson... Langford was a superwelter, McVea green as a spring shoot, Jeffries stale and old.

 

All the above answers are good. I will ad Jim Jeffries. His biggest wins are arguably Bob Fitzsimmons, Jim Corbett and Peter Jackson. All were long past their best when he fought them, and at least two of those were completely shot and inactive

Oh man, when I saw the subject matter the first fighter to pop in my head was Stracey. It's kinda eerie that his greatest wins were over Jose Napoles, Hedgemon Lewis, Ernie Lopez, Roger Menetrey and Jack Tillman. And in every instance it was their last fight of the career.

Ruben Olivares v Jesus Pimental - 2 all-time bangers meeting for the world title. Sounds great on paper but Pimental was 31 with over 80 fights to his name and some very worn tires. Signed title fights against Jofre and Harada went belly up for 'Little Poison' in his prime. He gave it a go but Ruben was just too much for him

Bob Montgomery v Wesley Mouzon II - this fight needed to be made, especially after Mouzon stopped the reigning lightweight champ in a non-title in 2 rounds. They signed for an immediate rematch and this time, a well conditioned Montgomery took apart Mouzon piece by piece. You might think, 'Well, so what. If he stopped the champ, what was he waiting for?" Well, Mouzon was only 19 at the time. He really could have used some seasoning before jumping the gun on a title shot. But I guess what is one to do when the offer comes in. Mouzon's career ended there with a detached retina. But he did go on to become a world class trainer.

Salvador Sanchez v Azumah Nelson - Nelson gave the champ fits before succumbing in the 15th round of a very tight fight. He had only 13 fights behind him and no one would have known he would have become an all-time great. But damn, does that name look good on your record.
