Send in your light heavyweight to give prime Ali a tough night at the office

Michael Spinks could make it awkward for a bit.

 

There's really not that many 175 fighters that can give Ali a hard night other than Ezzard Charles and Michael Spinks. Harold Johnson perhaps although I think he was a bit too rigid for him to really give Ali a run for his money.

 

Loughran, lasik John Henry Lewis or Braddock.

 

Billy Conn.

 

Too small, Ali's reach and footwork would be too difficult.

 

Michael Moorer as a light heavy would have beat a lot of Ali's opponents, specifically his 60's opponents, Moorer punched as hard as Cooper was a similar height and his reach was one inch longer than Cooper's.

 

M. Spinks, Tunney, Ezzard Charles.

 

The Bivol who beat Canelo.

 

I think that Conn and Loughran would give Ali a very frustrating night. Whether they win or lose...but Ali would not look good in the effort. Ali, even young Ali, liked guys that came to him with no imagination or guys that waited to see what he was going to do and then reacted. Loughran and Conn would do neither of those things. They were very accomplished professionals and they would come to fight their fight and never in his career was Ali noted for his ring cutting ability.
See, they are going to be mobile and, being the bigger guy, the pressure is on Ali to push the fight.

 

I would mention Dwight Muhammad Qawi. He can easily weigh above 200lbs so he would be able to give Ali a hard fight.

 

Loughran was a great jab artist,he might have a few moments. Charles and would give him a fight,Lewis might be a good match for a few rounds, the awkward Spinks too,but the wild card for me is Moorer a 6'2in southpaw with some pop and a 78in reach, realistically the way Ali waltzed through Foster,one of my top 4 lhvy's, I can't see any beating him.
