Lopez remains extremely unimpressive on the front foot. Shakira shutting him down like that was and is a good performence, but nothing to glaze.

 

The future of the HW division will be decided in less than a week.

 

I was really rooting for Rolly here, who's become a bit of a sentimental favourite of mine over the last couple years. If he had countered in combination or used his physicality to win exchanged then I think it could've made for a really exciting fight (and one he could've won), but he instead chose to move when he isn't really a mover. If Teofimo fights Catterall then he loses every round, he needs to get as far away as he can from Catterall, and I say this as someone who hates Catterall and think he isn't especially good for being a world level guy. Lots of other guys at 147 who would make for good fights against Teo though.

 

Its kinda funny how many people have become Rolly fans, given how dull his last 4 fights have been, and the fact that he rarely ever fights at all.

 

How has Teo still not worked on front foot fighting. Hes fought so many conservative fighters that you’d think he’d learn by now

Teofimo clearly won the fight, Romero was too inactive. 114-114 doesn't exist, just as 114-113 in favor of Thurman against Pacquiao and 115-113 for Joshua in the rematch with Usyk don't exist. But there's a judge like Glenn Feldman, and so, unfortunately, these scores exist too.

Rolly gets people talking but he just isn't a draw because people know he's a C-tier mediocre fighter. Teo could've been a star if he capitalised on his momentum post-Loma but he got beaten by Kambosos, has a very strange personality, said a bunch of weird/racial stuff, and when you add in Teo Sr. you get a pretty unlikeable guy.

Ryan Garcia is the only actual draw (as in, well-known by non-boxing fans) anywhere remotely near these divisions (Tank Davis too but he's all but checked out of boxing) which is a sad indictment on the current popularity and state of boxing.

 

Well put. Ironically, Rollie is probably the one who has made the most of his potential (or limitations.)

Teo could be a super-star if he didn’t say stupid things, and a top pound for pound level fighter if he’d improve his relatively few big weaknesses…

Rollie was never supposed to be here, but he’s been a thorn in the side of everyone in the division and keeps getting big fights.

Ryan was a super star before he was ranked, and with a big amateur pedigree… Criticisms are similar to Teo, although I think he’s a more flawed fighter by a decent margin, bigger puncher though.
