Artur Beterbiev is 41 and hasn't fought in near 2 years

I think Beterbiev is just waiting for his third fight with Bivol, and he complained some time ago that it was too long since their second match. I remember last year there were rumors that Beterbiev was supposed to fight Dean Nicholson in the Benavidez-Yarde sottoclou, but then the fight never happened. According to Hearn's recent statement we should have Bivol-Beterbiev 3 soon, so let's see if that turns out to be the case.

 

Evidently he preferred it that way.

 

He did have one fight scheduled, but it was Beterbiev who pulled out. We never got an answer as to why.

 

Retirement. It's better to leave it unresolved than for Bivol to play the card that Beterbiev is getting old.

 

Beterbiev will reach retirement if he does not fight in another year. You see that once you reach 3 years of inactivity, that fire no longer burns. If he is going to continue fighting he has to fight in the next 12 months.

 

Better be ev-er so quick to finish things up with his career, before the prostate trouble brings him down as it eventually does to us all.

 

There is no sense for him to fight another guy. There is him and Bivol in the same division, then a significant gap and then other fighters.

Bivol the only who took him over full distance, beat him once and didnt get KOd by him.

Its a rivalry which peaked at the end of his carreer and either a last dance with Bivol to see who gets the edge or retirement.

Even if hes been out of ring for two years, he will be ready for a trilogy. Bivol got some ring rust aswell after his surgeries. Would be an interesting last fight between them.

Top Rank blocked it even though he was out of contract with them. There must have been a clause in there or something.

This is the sad state of affairs in boxing these days. We got a world title eliminator in the featherweight division being held up by Sultan Zaurbek who's made Sir Jackson England wait a year and a half to fight him. Charlo 3 year absence at least. His brother ditto. Tank retired wants to come back but has law suits. Loma retired coming back. Mayweather announces 3 fight mega deal but also has law suits. Boxing has become a farce and is a shadow of its former self.

 

Beterbiev would've stopped Ward and Bivol wouldve outboxed Ward. All of this came after Kovalev beat Ward but was robbed by DEI judging.
