Which Heavyweight Is Possibly Overrated Because Of Nostalgia?

I don't care about any so called expert, most of them are clueless as far as I'm concerned. I've had this debate with a fellow poster here, so I'd rather not repeat the same things again or argue pointlessly. I saw the fight and scored it myself, and I even posted my cards on this thread. I had Shavers winning by 5 to 3, with 7 rounds drawn.

 

So it’s your belief alone you are referring to. I watched the bout live and read about the aftermath in great detail back in 1977. The decision was not controversial. Period.

 

It was gifted to Ali since Shavers landed the big shots and Ali did pretty much nothing apart from hitting Shavers's guard.

 

Name the experts who watched the bout in 1977 that scored the bout for Shavers.

It was a 9-6 rounds victory for Ali.

Shavers threw away many rounds to rest and then came on in the last three to try to score a stoppage. He failed.

 

I repeat, their scoring is meaningless to me. I saw the fight myself. Shavers won.

In 54 fights Liston fought men weighing 200lbs or more 25 times,how many heavies before him can match that?

How about you two also weigh in on Ali-Norton 2 and 3? As to the Shaver's fight in a non-debatable regard on account of those many right hand bombs Ali took his speech rate permanently declined 16% thereafter (see as I noted before the longitudinal study on Ali's speech decline organized and funded by his biographer Jonathan Eig). Also as we all know Ferdie Pacheco's physician sensibilities were so aghast by the shellacking Ali took that he quit the team after that fight. Lennox Lewis is horribly overrated and like Joe Calzaghe it grows each year.

He insists he beat a prime Tyson and Holyfield.

People often talk of Mike Tyson being in awe of George Foreman but what about Lewis? The first thing Emmanuel Steward did when taking over after the McCall knockout was quote ' have Lennox watch Foreman tapes'.

The man was flattened by Rahman and McCall . He never fought Bowe .

In mitigation Mike's going to prison denied us a 1992 showdown. Tyson of 1991 was hungry as hell and could fight 20 rounds.

 

He insists he beat a Tyson who was younger than himself and he is right.Bowe wouldn't fight him.

 

I'm still amazed that a poster suggested Muhammad Ali was physically whole and neurologically intact for the Spinks and Holmes bouts when all the scientific evidence indicates otherwise.
