In case of the JBC, if you get it then you are almost guaranteed a shot at the OBPF belt, and if you win that then you are almost guaranteed a world ranking(OBPF belongs to the WBC).
This of course varies a bit from weight class to weight class, as in some lower weights the JBC alone is enough to get a world ranking, if not even a title shot. And getting the JBC title is not that easy.
I absolutely adore the Japanese system, and it goes even deeper than this, with the Rookie King and A-Class tournaments.

If the US had a similar system to the JBC, or the BBBofC, then they would be producing a lot more world class boxers.
