Itauma is a beast and a future champion.

I will say that he now no longer needs to worry about the 'next Tyson' label or fitting into Uncle Franks timeline. Maybe he can now focus on his boxing, his attributes and weaknesses, and actually develop a crafty style instead of trying to be the terminator. I hope so, because his physical ability is insane.

 

Kabayel would be an interesting fight due to the body shots, but the Itauma that came out tonight knocks Dubios into next week. He's been put on his ass by lesser fighters.

 

Itauma looked solid. If he had just slowed down and paced a bit better he would have won.

And he would have become champ beating a top heavyweight. All at 21.

Minor changes needed.

 

Dubois is a weird fighter, initially I thought he was a flat track bully and would wilt if you put it on him. He eventually shed that impression with his performances against Miller, Hrgovic and Wardley. if he thinks he can outlast you he is extremely difficult to get out of there even if you drop him hard he'll tough it out to the death but if you demoralise him enough technically where he can't figure you out, he'll look for the exit door. He may find Itauma a far worse opponent than Kabayel in that regard as he isn't going to engage in a straight up dogfight with him, that's probably the worst way to fight Dubois but some fighters don't have much else in their locker.

Some people are going to be eating a lot of humble pie when Itauma holds a belt for longer than Fury, Joshua, Wilder, Usyk, Hrgovic, Dubois etc.

I don't understand how anybody can watch that fight and not understand that Itauma lost for one reason - Inexperience.

Even Hrgovic made that assessment, and he was in the ****ing ring with him. But apparently the "Experts" on here know more.

 

He's not as talented as y'all think he is. He's good enough to win a couple of belts in this era, but he won't reach Joshua's level. He's too small to be limited in footwork the way that he is. He just wants to stand at midrange and trade. Can't rely on that at world level.

 

Disagree. His stamina is a real problem. He's a kid and it's only going to get worse as he hits his mid & late 20s. He also has poor defense. He's talented and fun to watch, but he's not at AJ's level much less someone like Lennox Lewis.

 

The "beast" aka hype job staggered around like he just left a bar at 3 am, he's a hype job and got outed.

 

Yeah these salty armchair, pot bellied, wannabe experts think they know more about boxing than Filip Hrgovic.

They should watch that last round again. Itauma has nothing left, his upper body isn't even going in the same direction as his legs, he's fighting on nothing but instinct. That round alone proves his "Mentality"....He took multiple punches and was throwing plenty back, even with nothing left.

More skilled, no question. Don't confuse handspeed with overall ability, especially when you factor in the size difference.

 

his preparation was crap. whoever was in charge of bringing him in proper fight shape does not know what they are doing. i can see some slowing down in a high paced fight, but not being able to lift your arms is disgraceful. if thats who he is genetically, then hes another one of the never going to be complete bunch. If it was preparation, get a new team who knows what they are doing. the results are worth it.
