@Cyrion Hrgovic who has been around boxing longer than you, is more knowledgeable than you and has more credentials than you. He said this about Moses in a post-fight interview "Moses is amazing, he is amazing, just amazing, I did not think it was going to be this hard. I thought i would handle him easier. I was losing ALL THE rounds. The kid is AMAZING he is so fast. You are a nobody by comparison to Hrgovic in terms of boxing credentials.. Correct? What have you done in boxing? You just been watching boxing from your radio. So your dismissal of Moses is completely unwarranted. Saying he needs major changes??? DKSAB. Hrgovic is bang average?? Based on what?
Hey, we’re the ones who picked Hergovic. Many Moses supporters where calling him bang average and that Moses was going to destroy him before the fight good to see you back Aydamn. Still following Whyte at all?
He was outphysicalled by a bigger, tougher fighter. Hrgo enforced his rules of fighting on Moses. It took 8 rounds to fully bloom but he stuck the course. Being physically and mentally stronger can derail the best laid plans and talent.
Bet it must have killed you having all these British heavyweight world champions the past 10 years or so, as well as all the challengers. Never mind.
The weirdos who like to see a "hype train derailed" are just as ridiculous as the ones thinking he's the next Tyson/Ali. People go on about fighters trying to protect their 0, but these types of people are partly to blame for that. Pacquiao had already been KO'd twice before he even reached Itauma's age. To who you might ask? To Rustico Torrecampo and Medgoen Singsurat. Again, who? Exactly. Lomachenko lost his first pro fight. I bet people were saying the same stuff about Klitschko after the Puritty loss too. Why do people act like a young fighter losing a fight he wasn't ready for is the end of the world? It's like they take some sort of glee from it. It's bizarre behaviour. I'm not even saying Itauma's going to become a legend/hall of famer (even though it's certainly possible). He might well turn out to be a hypejob, but now is definitely not the time to decide that. Defeats early in a fighter's career can help shape a fighter into who they become. Every fighter has a different path to greatness. They don't all do it like Usyk. This defeat isn't even surprising to me. I felt Hrgovic might be too big a step up, compared to who he's been facing so far, and it showed.
My thoughts are the loss is embarrassing considering the hype and expectations However he was way ahead and was stopped on his feet and didnt appear to suffer a career altering beating. If he doesn't let it destroy him mentally this was probably the best way to lose. He can point to the first 8 rounds, blame his gas tank and turn it around
People are too quick to write someone off Itauma was winning EVERY SINGLE ROUND and hurting Hrgovic along the way in the process Conditioning is the easiest thing in boxing to fix Itauma just needs to pace himself better and probably get a new trainer cause I've never been high on Ben Davison
Conditioning is the first thing you should have as a boxer. Not lasting is not surviving. Obviously. As we saw in this fight.
Three main questions were asked of Itauma. Chin, stamina and ring IQ, and Itauma failed all of those. Also, Itauma's philly shell defence isn't as good as it seems to the eye - he is incredibly open to a good jab (I would have been interested to see what would have happened if Hrgovic played it even safer and just jabbed), and Itauma struggled when he was backed up to the ropes.
Needs to learn how to read his gas gauge a lot better, and needs some serious stamina work. his chin is fine. He passed. Stamina is his only issue and that’s fixable. I still firmly think he’ll rule the division someday. In addition to a ton more cardio training (at altitude), he needs to be sparring 15 consecutive rounds regularly. Swap in a fresh opponent every 3 rounds. fixing this is going to be pretty brutal on him, but with it fixed, he *IS* the next Mike Tyson. There’s a lot of positive he and his team can take away from that fight. He was wiping the canvas with an Olympian, a consensus top 5-6 in the division, until he gassed. His chin held up.
He was trying to fight at the pace of an explosive guy smaller than MW. A 240lb dude cannot do that. It doesn’t matter if you can punch as fast as Ennis, you cannot keep it up like Ennis can and never will be able to when you weigh 86lbs more. Physics.
