Terrible stamina, average chin, better than average power. His mystique is now gone. He will probably rack up ten to fifteen losses then retire.

 

Im not sure they can myself. If it were the championship rounds sure, but round 9 is a bad sign. Mentally too when someone else takes him deep

He was running on fumes starting in round six.

 

Without having seen the fight yet myself I will say knee jerk reactions/forecasts can cut both ways.

Based on what we know of them, certain fighter might not necessarily be all hype but the premature gushing praise of some fans might take perceptions into that realm.

Conversely, a single loss isn’t the end of the world but, again, some fans overreact to same, fast tracking to a burst bubble that was never all that.

Losing the zero was par for the course when great fighters actually and duly engaged their best comp. - and that comp often took a loss or several losses of their own into fights in which they ultimately overcame the odds.

The modern lens of many boxing fans might’ve, as at the time, deemed Louis to be an exposed hype job after losing to the older Max Schmeling who carried his own imperfect record into their first fight.

Of course I’m not putting Moses on a pedestal alongside the likes of Joe Louis etc. but fighters can def. better themselves and improve after such losses, which provides for another dimension to the perception of greatness - but again, we will see.

A loss like this in its own right doesn’t necessarily signal a perpetuated bust going forward.

He could have finished the fight if he didn't go looking for the K.O

He isn't fit enough yet he can improve his gas tank

He injured his leg

He doesn't love boxing

He doesn't train hard enough

How about this. He's overrated always has been and always will be until he can capture a world title and defend it against quality opposition.

 

Itauma seriously thought he was going to just bulldoze Hrgovich and he shot his load in the early rounds. He wasn’t prepared for Hrgs toughness, and durability and Thats why he gassed out towards the end. Great performance from Hrgovich.

 

This kind of thing happens time and again through the division's history. A loss on the way up wasn't viewed as a death knell, and boxing's poorer for the fact that so many treat it like it is now.

Ken Norton got knocked out early against a LHW and went on to beat Ali three years later. Wlad had a bad loss on the way up to a lesser fighter than Hrgovic and ended up just fine. And the list goes on and on. People can write the kid off at their own peril. I'd still bet that he's a future champion, will end up as the #1 guy at some point, and will get some defenses in.

 

The fight I really want to see is Jared Anderson vs Itauma. Same size. Both want it. Backs against the wall.

 

I was really impressed with Itauma today and have no doubt he will be a future HW champion.

He's quick, has heart and has a decent chin. My only questionark is his gass tank. Can he go the distance if it turns into a slugfest.

Someone needs to check on Dillian Whyte immediately. I'm afraid this is some sort of Dorian Gray situation where that uppercut did nothing to Hrgovic but just knocked Whyte's head off in his attic
