He needs the Usyk fitness regime, that's all, and more experience fighting longer fights. No need to fight cans. Imagine how good he will be with better fitness; his power will last longer

 

I wonder how often top level boxers spar 12 full rounds? But it does beg the question, how the f do you train for 12 rounds without experiencing it? It's very different to do cardio than actual fighting.

Someone who can go 12 but not put him under too much duress, it's a difficult one to get right after what we saw. This should have been done before that, they tried with Whyte and Franklin he just wiped them out. He could have done with three or more of that level. The Whyte waste of time really messed up Itauma's development, he was supposed to go rounds and learn a lot from a previously solid B tier heavyweight who brings it to him. Heck he could have fought Chisora after that one rounder or someone else with a pulse. Just because he flattened Whyte in a round doesn't mean he is gonna flatten every B/C tier fighter out there. Suppose they calculated Hrgovic wasn't too much better than who he'd been fighting, but the question was always what if the fight goes over six rounds?

 

A demonstration of arrogance and hubris right there. Probably cost him the fight. Hrgovic won this fight clean and fair.

 

I saw this earlier today. Absolutely mental.

It's my understanding that fighters box 12 rounds in sparring against multiple sparring partners when preparing for a fight . Some even fight more. Ricky Hatton used to spar 15 rounds in camp with a different fighter coming in every 3 rounds.

To not practice what you may have to do in a real fight is a massive mix of stupidity and arrogance.

 

But what about all the legendary stories about him sparring world class pros when he was only 15 and 16 and doing well against all of them? Maybe they should have organised a 12 round Sparring World title fight against fellow Sparring legend, Martin Bakole before going for the real thing? Lol.

 

Easy answer to a stupid question. Spar twelve rounds or fight 12 rounds.
