Could Hrgovic beat any of the top heavyweights ?

Wow! Moses look 10x better than Fury, AJ and Wilder in the 1st seven rounds vs Hrg, there's no way AJ's taking the shots Hrg took, AJ and Fury are no longer top heavyweights and Wilder's a joke now.

 

Yes he can. He was beating DD until the cut got worse.

He was the clear underdog vs. the heir apparent "next Mike Tyson" suffered a controllable cut and a borderline flash KD. By the 3d round Filip was doing better. By the 5th better still. Even in the 7th when it was clear the fight was turning, the nauseating Brit crew calling the fight said they didn't think they could give Filip one round Take off the rose colored glasses. By the 7th you could see Moses looking tired. In the 9th he was knackered (one of my fav Brit slang) and was stopped. The ropes held him up a few times from a legit KD. I seriously wonder if he had the energy to get up. Filip has been denied many opportunities in his career. I'm glad he won and has one of the major belts !

Lastly, why do top Brit HWs have to have the home ring advantage in nearly every big fight - sometimes w/Brit refs. AJ is terrified to go to MSG to face Fury. He must still be having flashbacks of when a shortish, fat Mexcian stopped his model sculpted self.
Brit fans will travel to the US, they'll ceratianly travel elsewhere in Europe or close by.

 

Of course, he can beat at least some of the fighters on this list.
1. Usyk - he won't beat him. Firstly, Usyk is retiring, and secondly, he's a genius whose style wouldn't suit him at all. A genius wouldn't swell up like Moses. A clear points win for Oleksandr.
2. Kabayel - he's definitely within Filip's reach. He's slower than Itauma. It would be a war, and who knows how Agit would handle the Croatian's tough replies. Filip also handled Itauma's body blows (maybe not as many as Agit would throw). It's a clear-cut result in my opinion.
3. Fury - this fight will probably never happen, but is the current Fury so out of reach for someone like Filip? It would be a tough fight, and considering that even Makmudov could put something in his face and stay the distance, it's practically a 12-round fight.
4. Dubois - let's be honest. Dubois has always been and will always be within Filip's reach. The first fight was a scandal in terms of ring presence. Daniel, further broken by Usyk and Fabio Wardley twice, is definitely an opponent Hrgovic can beat. Especially since he was pounding him really hard in the first rounds. A little smarter approach and better refereeing, and he could definitely beat Dubois.
5. Joshua – it's unclear how much of AJ remains, but I don't know if he's still capable of winning a tough fight against someone who can withstand his punches and return the blows really well. He would definitely be a worthy opponent.

There's also Wardley, Parker, Sanchez, Ajgaba, Huni, and Gassiev. All are within the Croatian tough guy's reach. Murat and Parker would probably be the most interesting.

He can definitely compete with these fighters. Few of them will be as fast and aggressive as Moses, and there, Filip could stretch his wings much further during the fights.

Because it makes financial sense to have the fights in the UK, the home of boxing.

 

He probably still loses to Usyk and Fury at the current time.

But the rest, I think he beats them all.

Dubois 2 would be a tough, close rematch though. Would love to see that.

 

Don't know. All I do know is he's heavyweight champion of the world.

 

Dubois had to foul and play dirty to get the win against him. They should rematch. Hrgovic vs Dubois 2 or Zhang 2 after Sanchez is what I'd like to see.

 

I don't think he beats Usyk or Fury, and I think Kabayel is the slight favourite based on styles.

I do think he can beat Dubios in a rematch, and that he can also beat AJ in his current form.

 

Usyk. probably not. If we give him the benefit of the doubt and assume the Verhoven fight was a one off and not a result of a steep decline then an in shape Usyk should win. Stylistically all wrong for him. Would put in a decent effort though as Usyk wouldn't have the power to keep him honest.

Kabayel. maybe, but I wouldn't favour him. Kabayels body work and aggression would make him a tough fight for Hrgovic but Hrgovic I think could do well by boxing off the back foot like he could in his early career and amateur days.

Fury. I'd favour Hrgovic. At this point I think he'd outwork and maybe stop Fury late. Don't think it'd be an easy fight as Fury is still crafty and he still has fast hands but his feet have slowed and I don't think he'd be able to keep pace with Hrgovic.

Dubois. maybe but probably not. He was landing at will against Dubois but seemed incapable of hurting him, and Dubois has a good enough gas tank with good enough power to replicate what happened in the first fight even without the headbutts. To win Hrgovic would need to box a disciplined and technical fight but he hasn't really done that in years. Hrg probably loses a decision or is stopped late on cuts and damage again.

Joshua. would heavily favour Hrg. Joshua's chin and legs and defense are shot to bits. Hrg wouldn't be able to miss and even with him not being a big puncher, I doubt Joshua would be able to take his power at this stage. Hrgovic's chin means that Joshua can't pull out a KO punch to save him either so he really has very little shot.

Wilder, nah. Prime for prime I might not even favour Wilder, but 2026 Wilder? Definitely not. His power and speed have fallen off massively. Technically and fundamentally he's as awful as ever. He was able to take good shots against Chisora but Hrgovic would be landing more consistently than Chisora managed. Late stoppage for Hrg.

Outside of the top 3 guys of the division (asterisk next to Usyk because he's basically retired and looked horrible last time out) I'd favour Hrgovic to beat most everyone. Sanchez I'm not convinced is back to his best form. Gassiev is way too limited. Bakole is M.I.A. Ajagba is in Zuffa purgatory. Wardley would be out skilled. I think Hrgovic - Parker would be a very interesting fight though.
