David Haye has by far the best post-fight analysis of the Itauma/Hrgovic fight

Watched it. Completely agreed, MetalLicker.

Itauma could do worse than to have Haye in his corner...

 

Fantastic assessment by an experienced knowledgeable, professional, ex-champion, talented boxer in Haye; as opposed to all the armchair, potato chip snacking opinionators on this forum past 36 hours slagging off Moses.

Haye said Moses has a SOLID chin. He said Moses dod everything right, everytbing 10/10 ... only thing that was missing was that Moses did not PACE himself. Exactly ad I have been saying post fight.

Moses fought very very well. Made Hrgovic look like a taxi driver and even Hrgovic himself said Moses was the BEST he ever shared a ring with, and the lost every round, got lucky and Moses outclassed and outboxed him.

Yet some posters here ...
"Moses has major holes in his defence, it needs a lot of work"
" Hrgovic is BANG AVERAGE"
"Moses is a failure"
"Moses got smashed"

 

He needs to really work on conserving that energy and keep his opponents guessing. He managed it quite well in spells of the fight, but got too excited in chasing the finish. Land a few good shots, make his opponent swing and miss, land a good counter to discourage and repeat for a couple of rounds to get a breather.

 

Itauma was showing signs of being hurt and out of gas by round six.

 

Sadly the potato chip munchers are far smarter than Haye...or You.

 

Well... I would say that neither of them are average, as they're both world class fighters...

I think it's also safe to say we're entering into yet another era where "world class" heavyweights are looking pretty bad though..

Being incapable of fighting 2/3 the way through a fight due to conditioning, "pacing", or the skill-set of fighting when tired is a big red flag... stop acting like its not big deal. Thank God he wasn't in there with one of the many bigger punchers in the division than Hrgovic, he'd probably be in very bad shape.

 

Of course they are, I mean I am not an expert. David Haye is. He been there, done that.

 

I always considered Hrgovic a big puncher. While not anKO artist, he does carry power imo. I didn't get the memo that Hrgovic doesnt hit hard...

David Haye said Moses has a good chin as it was tested by a real puncher in Hrgovic. Haye sparred Hrgovic quite a bit back in the day.

I see more green flags than red flags with Moses from the last performance. It would become a red flag for me if it continued to be a recurring theme.

Fact is, he fought off emotion/anger/frustration/nervous energy and blew the gas tank early. That logically does not mean he has a bad gas tank. He did not pace himself just like David Haye said.

You can drive a sports car in sport mode and do 12 MPG and run out of fuel
quickly as you go for broke

Or get 30 mpg and get to your destinate with success. Moses chose option 1.

It was a CHOICE. If we went back in time 36 hours, he could have picked option 2.. and won the fight.

 

I'd say about everyone in the top 10 at heavyweight CAN PUNCH... What I mean is you have several guys like DuBois, Wardley, Zhang, who are much more destructive punchers.

I get your point, but I think its a problem that's harder to fix than it's being made to seem - and mostly due to HOW BAD he looked once he got tired, and how many rounds there were left to go... Factor in the potential psychological effect this will have on him (especially coupled with his arrogance prior to it).

He didn't just look tired. He looked nearly incapable of defending himself, maintaining technique, or even just standing up straight when his opponent was halfway across the ring from him... There's a certain mentality and behavior that was missing too.. Great fighters hide this kind of stuff, or at least try their best to.. It's hard to believe Itauma was even attempting to hide it with his mannerisms.... and he didn't seem so hurt like Fury did when he was stumbling around against Usyk.. He did still throw a few bombs back (and land them, lol...) so I'll give him that.

 

The analysis that included refusing to blame Ben Davison for anything at all? What a joke.

 

Froch also said in his post-fight video that the bout reminded him of Haye vs Thompson.
