He needs to switch trainers and change his mentality- never try to force the knockout, let it happen by itself.

He's got the time though, hasn't he? He's not even 22 yet.
If...he's got the intelligence to understand why he lost this fight, and makes the necessary adjustments, I don't see why this would be the last we see of him at the upper echelons of HW's.

ive gone from not being able to complete 2 miles without stopping to a walk to catch my breath, to fast pace jogging 10 miles easily without ever feeling taxed, in 3 months. before saturday, by his own admission, he had never felt what it is to need to throw punches for 12 rds, even at a sparring speed. right now even he doesnt know how much his stamina can be improved.

Davidson was his boxing trainer for all the work inside the ring but didn’t Itauma like most high profile fighters have separate strength and conditioning coaches as well as maybe a specialist dietician?

Itauma tried to win every single round and on top of that he tried to go for the KO in several of them.

A fight vs hrgovic should be planed to be a 12 rounds fight, and in a fight planed to last 12 rounds there are rounds that you give to your oponent (which ones depend on the strategy). Stamina is not only to fight 12 rounds nonstop, stamina is a good plan too and to know which rounds to commit and which rounds to rest waiting for a second wind. Itauma just wanted to win 12-0 with a not-very-good stamina, that's ridiculous, after 9 rounds we all saw the result. If he had given a couple of rounds to hrgovic in order to rest and wait for the second wind it would have changed everything.

If you plan your 12 rounds fight and you KO hrgovic in round 4, then good for you, but this cannot be your plan vs a guy who can survive zhang.

Youre right about stamina, but a lot of his issue isnt just inherent stamina problems, its his style.

With better energy management, more muscle memory, more awareness on when to rest within the fight, ect ect, he might not need to have considerably better stamina as much as fight in a style that extends his stamina longer.

Thats very doable with the right iq and right trainer.

I love this formula of post. Say something that didn't happen, pretend it did then say "that's essentially what happened".

He only trained for 6 rounds, but made it to 9.

So all he needs to do is train for 9, and he can make 12.

There are 3 things Moses needs to do so he'll never have stamina issues again:

    1. Do a shitload of bodysparring. It seems he can't get many quality conditioning rounds through conventional sparring so his conditioning will need to be brought on through bodysparring;
    2. Needs to sing, that's right sing, from start to finish when he's doing roadwork. Don't matter what the song, just get those vocal chords loud; and,
    3. Get rid of Ben Davison.

If he does all three he'll be untouchable for a decade.

I remember how poor furys stamina was fighting McDermott in 2009 when he was early 20's fighting on fumes from 6 onwards.

So yeah you're right 5 years to develop is a long time.

Ituama has a real good natural flow to is fighting. Talented no doubt.

Flaws being exposed early is tough though, will give future opponents a lot of confidence. He can still succeed. I think him losing is better than being coddled! He is still the next gen.

One things for certain people who don't know anything about boxing can post on a boxing forum.

Itauma threw 216 punches in the first 6 rounds and about 160 of those were power punches. There's not many boxers, or any, at HW who can match that workrate.

Itauma's pacing is more of an issue than overall lack of cardio.

Developing stamina doesn’t take decades but genetically you’re advantaged or not, in the same way some average guy can’t do all the training in the world and run like Mo Farah or cycle like Tadej Pogacar.
Who knows about Itauma, it might be that he just doesn’t train properly and is lazy. He did also seem nervous/tense as someone else said.

People actually believe he only trained for a 6 round fight?

Ben Davison trained white collar boxer Fabio who had no amateur career and 17 pro fights at the time, 12 of which ended within 3 rounds, and had only been past 5 x 2, and past 6 x 1 which ended in round 7, fought in a 12 round war for the ages in his next fight in one of the best and most gruelling HW fights in a very long time

    This content is protected

2 fights later he won on a late round KO in round 10 after taking a biblical shellacking from Huni

In his next fight on an 11th round TKO in another super gruelling war vs J-Park after taking loads of punishment

And in his fight after that he lost on an 11th round stoppage vs Dubois in another gruelling fight where he took a biblical shellacking

I guess Davison only had him training for 6 rounds too?

How comes the Ben Davison trained Fabio is so fit?
