Let's just say it: Moses lost to a tough, limited contender and as of yet has accomplished nothing.

Another way to look at it is that he just gave a top 5 heavyweight and current world champion a competitive fight, winning all but 1-2 rounds and even knocking him down before going out on his shield.

Pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

 

I agree, Itauma proved he is no good at all, Filip schooled him, people say he lost rounds and got hit, yes, that was his tactics.

In my opinion Itauma should retire before he takes unnecessary damage, he is David price now

Hrgovic was a tough stylistic match up for him, I knew the odds were crazy and he was getting a bit overhyped.

Of course the pendulum has swung too far the other way with some comparing him to David Price.

Most 21 year olds are still a work in progress, he failed his first test but I still think he has a bright future.

 

Limited contender is now a world champion. Hrgo has been top 5ish for most of the past decade. No one wanted to give him a shot, so he had to fight Zhang, Dubois, then Itauma. To emerge from that with a belt is impressive.

 

Nothing impressive about getting bashed and gassed senseless having the ref and corner step in while you're half slumped over in the corner getting carried out on a stretcher.

He got destroyed. The part before it is irrelevant.

 

It's impressive when you consider he's had barely any fights, only ever gone 6 rounds prior to this and is only 21 years old. He deserves some credit there imo, Hrgovic didn't exactly have an easy time in there himself.

In any case he has plenty of time to make the adjustments needed to improve.

 

Most the top HW's fight once a year so its hard being a contender these days.

 

I don't think anyone is arguing he's actually accomplished anything, but anyone who thinks he's limited simply doesn't understand the sport. How do you look a level above the now IBF heavyweight champion at the age of 21, win 90% of the fight, get let down by your stamina, and be limited? Hrgovic was winning after 8 rounds against Dubois until he got headbutted into oblivion; Itauma made him look stupid for most of the first half of the fight, and is still clearly one of the most gifted prospects in the sport.

 

No, no. Sorry, but Itauma didn’t "win 90% of the fight" - that's quite simply not a thing. Hrgovic won the fight, end of.

People need to quit the cope, quit making excuses, and give Hrgovic some credit for executing a great game plan perfectly on the night.

The only person looking stupid in that ring was Itauma.

Man, talk about blowing the "I'm not hating on Itauma" cover right off the bat.

This is a guy who started boxing seriously at 14, had roughly 80 rounds total between the amateurs and pros, had never been past 6, and was fighting a guy who had already been a youth amateur world champion when Itauma was only 5 years old. He still made Hrgovic look like he hasn't been past sparring before his conditioning fell apart. A very fixable thing if he's truly never sparred 12 rounds and if he learns to pace himself. It's up to him ofc, but there's plenty of evidence he's "any good".

Are we gonna stop pretending Boxing is a form of accounting ? As if the only thing that matters is whether or not you've got a W or an L next to a name on boxrec ? Performance is evidence. Otherwise you don't get to call Hrgovic "a tough limited contender" as he's a legit world champion now, even if he's not really that much better compared to when he was still a contender.

The fight showed the clear talent and skill advantage Itauma has over Hrgovic, just as it showed the equally large gap in stamina. It showed Hrgovic's chin, resilience, experience and self belief just as it showed us Itauma's talent, skills, speed and will to fight until he can barely stand.

And hey, if you want to say “I told you so” for the 69th time, knock yourself out. Just drop the “I'm not hating” routine behind your victory lap over the loss of a fighter whose case you had already built in your head. The post speaks for itself.
