How powerful was the uppercut that Itauma landed on Hrgovic?

Priceless. Kudos to whoever created this.

 

When you watch how Zhang, who is in my opinion the hardest puncher in the sport (he has an insane knockout percentage with really low output and doesn't have incredible punch speed), couldn't stop tired Hrgovic, you knew from the start that the only way Moses was stopping Filip was a fishy British stoppage after a barrage of unanswered punches, Hrgovic knew that too and he always tried to counterattack and counterpunch, with the risks that implied (his punches were much slower)

 

People forgetting that Itauma dropped Hrgovic in the 2nd round? Seemed like a legit knockdown but hardly anyone mentions it

 

Was a hellava uppercut! Hrgovic's chin is what kept him up.

 

Itauma was fading and there wasn’t as much sting on the punches but he definitely summoned a lot of power into that one. Wasn’t quite Lewis’s brutal bomb that ricocheted off Vitali’s iron jaw or didn’t get the leverage that Joshua’s uppercut did which turned Wlad temporarily into a giraffe but was a very hard and clever shot which would have seen 99% of fighters stumbling to the canvas considering the rest of the punishment they’d have been subjected to. Meanwhile Hrgovic just casually strolls off to his corner without a care in the world.

 

it was not thrown full force, with proper torque and follow through. thats why the motion of the punch ends at impact level instead of continuing its arch. had that punch been stopped at that level because hrgovic had tightened up and braced for it, you would have seen the energy visibly dissipate in waves through their bodies.

 

Hrgović is 2 cm taller after eating that uppercut.

Was a bloody good punch but unfortunately it hit a chin that didn't even flinch

I remember the Kharitonov fight. I was cheering for Sergei who was pretty old but always had a thunderous punch. Just couldn't put El Animal away ...

 

I didn’t think it was a particularly powerful punch. But I’m not really the best person to judge. It looked like Whitaker throwing it

It would have caused most other heavyweights major issues. Clean technique, plenty of power (though probably not a full power shot, but uppercuts don't really need to be).

 

Cuffing a guy around the back of the head and knocking him off-balance so he touches a glove and a glove only to the canvas isn't an impressive knockdown.

Jermaine Franklin is one of the more durable HWs out there, and that’s the same uppercut that put him to sleep. Hrgovic eating this like snack was the beginning of Itauma’s downfall. He had the annoyed look on his face afterwards, and that frustration contributed to him running out of energy.

Hrgovic is the toughest HW out there since Ray Mercer.
