Where does Ruiz go from here? His days contending for titles are over. Maybe Wilder after he fights Usyk? Beyond that he's a gatekeeper for up and comers.

Missed the fight; but what's with the ref trying to interfere with Knyba? You either wave it off, or don't get in the way.

 

There are enough big name on the way out of major relevance kind of fighters he can face off with. Wilder, Chisora, Joyce, Zhang, Whyte just to name five. Win any of those and he can say he's two fights from a title shot. That's why fighting that guy was a completely stupid move, you'd only want to face a guy like that in an eliminator not a wholly voluntary comeback fight. Would Eddie have put Joshua in with him, I don't think so. You can say yeah but all those guys punch harder than this guy but their styles wouldn't pose that kind of risk which kind of hypnotised him into believing there was no threat around the corner which almost proved fatal.

Honestly, the Ruiz Knyba fought looked better than his Ortiz, Arreola, and Joshua II performances. I even commented in the first round that Ruiz’s feet looked faster because of the weight loss. The problem is that Hearn literally picked the worst matchup possible for Ruiz. He watched the AJ and Ortiz fights and thought, “I need to pick a guy with an even longer reach so Ruiz can get even more busted up.” Is this revenge for the first AJ fight?

 

That was a decent night of fights..
Sanchez was smart, Vito fought real well. I always liked Andy but 114-113 was a bit much to take. I actually wouldnt see him have one more shot at it if he's hearts in it? 6 foot 7s a tall order after so long out...
