I will be genuinely shocked if Gassiev ever beats anyone in the top 20.

I admire the optimism, but will have to conclude it is a long shot sorry. Great post though!

Dubois would blast Gassievs soul out of his body. Similar power, better jab, better footwork. He isn't obese slow Miller, and Gassiev might lose that one

While I'd love to see it, it is a bit of a pipe dream seeing how he's only really had one title shot, and that was 10 years ago :(

Gassiev better two-fisted power, experience as a champion, bodywork, and he doesn't have the issues of retiring when he can't think of a plan B.

Just like Ituama blasted out Hrgovic, right?

This is why they have the fights.

Gassiev failed to beat Wallin—who had lost every round against Chisora and was brutally knocked out by Sirenko—so the title Gassiev was handed means nothing, and he won't manage to defend it...

Gassiev is too specific in his style. He is the prototype of an interesting opponent who is beatable and will probably lose to the best.
He has great punching technique and mixes easy shots with devastating ones.

But since styles make fights and he is russian and doesn't bring much money, he will probably soon enough get bad matchups and lose to the right opponent who has a matching style.

I'm not calling you crazy and I always respect other people's opinions, even when I don't agree with them, as in this case. Gassiev is solid and powerful, that's true, but he also has poor footwork, he's not fast, and he has a low workrate, hence the losses you mention, against Usyk (in which he was dominated) and Wallin (who after Gassiev lost 3 out of 5 fights...), and, against the over-forty-year-old Pulev (a boxer who was never a phenomenon even in his prime), the Russian was behind on the judges' scorecards, before finding the decisive left hook. That's why I see him as a clear underdog against Kabayel and Dubois. I give him a better chance against Hrgovic, but I don't think Gassiev can unify the four world titles.

Unless Gassiev was only still like 50% fit against Wallin then, nah, you're crazy!

Let's see if he can make a defence first!

It would fairly elevate Usyk's resume if it came to pass though!
