I don't think Garcia is going to mess this one up, the technical superiority will shine through, I think even at his worst, he gets the job done.
Basically, if Conor hasn't killed himself making the weight, then he's in crazy shape and has put the work in. Plus if he's back on eggs, and Ryan can't hurt him, he can outwork Garcia, who to me is a total enigma. I've seen no footage of him actually training or sparring in the gym during the build-up, although that's how he likes to play people, as he did in the lead-up to the Haney fight. Failing that, Garcia wins in whatever fashion he chooses to on the night, but the Rolly and Tank fights show he can be hurt and disinterested if things are not going his way.
You know Shakur mentioned something very similar to what you mentioned. He said by all accounts Ryan should dominate this but Ryan always does something stupid to make things harder. He used the Rolly fight as an example.
Fair enough. I wouldn't be surprised if the egg diet is back on the menu, but would it have that many benefits if you are boiling down in weight as much as he is? I don't know a thing about that sort of thing I must admit.
Yeah, if only Ryan had Shakur's discipline. But he's always betraying himself, like a lost soul. No denying on his day, though, he's an elite-level operator with mesmerising speed.
You know what is funny ? While I think Shakur has more skills then Ryan I think if they fought Ryan could be Shakur due to his speed.
Definitely the fight to make if Garcia comes through at the weekend and looks good doing so – much prefer that match-up than either against Haney. I think at 147, no weight clauses, it'd be more even. Beyond that, I think Shakur's a class apart from anyone right now, but clearly not a welterweight, or even truly a 140lbs fighter at the moment.
Matchroom are pushing the narrative that Benn is weight drained, Garcia will win and Benn will move up claiming he can't make 147. Another Benn and Hearn total con job. It certainly would benefit but it requires a different variety of eggs.
It’s funny this forum, 18 months ago Benn wasn’t British level and had never won any belts. Now people are questioning if he beats Garcia?! The Garcia that “you don’t know what version of him turns up” smashed Devon Heney to pieces (pfp ranked). Jesus. Benn will give a good account of himself as he is tough (from what we’ve seen) fighting fighters weight drained or shot. Let’s see how tough he is going in as the bigger man against an explosive Garcia. Garcia batters him and I will steak my terrible unpredictable reputation on it!!
Well, that's the common sense approach mate, but boxing isn't so common – and that Haney fight, you know Devin was effectively up on the cards after 9 rounds. Irrespective, Saturday will highlight what performance was truly career-defining for Ryan – Rolly, or Haney.
