Yea, it's a big IF. It might be that he's just a faster Zhang - heavy hands, pretty durable, but horrible if it goes to later rounds and/or cards? That's not nothing, it's just not the dominant champ a lot of people expected.
That's actually really quite interesting to me as Haye was lambasted for his really low output and poor effort against Wlad; but I can see that sniper adaptation being much of the cause (outside of ToeGate!!) - he couldn't see the shot etc etc. But as BubblesUK noted, this style probably nullified a LOT of his best attributes, and given Wlad's losses and their manner, ironically Haye's best shot against Wlad would likely to have been to fight just as he did against Thomson and Itauma did against Hrgo! Put it on Wlad early and often and make himn doubt his chin with Sanders flashbacks! Styles Make Fights!
If he tries to be Power Parker, and fight against his strengths... I'd agree. As a points fighter across 12, he's a significant step up.
Maybe not for his first comeback fight maybe in a year or 2. But I do think Parker would be a good opponent for Itauma. Parker has historically normally done quite poorly vs British Heavyweights. Lost to Joshua, Whyte, Wardley, Joyce. Gift decision vs Chisora in their 1st meeting. Razor thin close decision vs H.Fury.
I think points Joe also loses. He wouldn't continually apply the educated pressure Hrgo did and Moses wouldn't have to work so hard. Interesting though!!
Parker has considerably better stamina... Nah, on points I'd take Parker over Hrgovic 9/10 fights... Stamina through later rounds Parker is better, technically Hrgovic is decent but he's not all that special all round. Itauma suited Hrgovic perfectly, since his chin held up.
it could be that they inadvertently picked the worst possible opponent for Ituama. Hrgovic’s strategy was perfect… for Hrgovic. Who else has the durability to pull that off? He ended up having to tank a lot of punishment to finally get Ituama to the full gas out state.
Quite. You can see why they picked him - Poor stamina, hittable, mediocre power. Must've seemed like an obvious step up choice... As long as Itauma could stop him, or could go 12 without gassing too badly. They'd have known he didn't really have the stamina, surely, so the only conclusion you can come to is they were sure Itauma could stop Hrgovic. Looks a bit silly in hindsight, but seemingly sensible decisions sometimes do.
Yep, best chin in division and by a way his biggest asset. Most of the time a chin looks unbreakable until someone powerful enough comes along... But look at some of the guys who haven't made a dent and factor in a bit of hype, and you start to wonder why they were so sure Itauma could - and they must've been sure, because they'd have known he'd struggle on cards.
Thanks. I think that J-Park KO of Bakole might have been a bit of a fluke. Bakole has a good chin and J-Park has been taken the distance by many fighters with worse or much worse chins than Bakole. Obviously Bakole didn't have a camp and wasn't in shape for that fight and whilst I do believe it was definitely a heavy shot I think it was more about where it landed. It landed on the top of his head not the temple area or chin. Bizarre
Anderson is faster and more flashy than Bakole but when he stood in front of him Bakole was his worst nightmare. If Bakole catches Moses like he did Anderson we might see the same thing happen to him, in fact I think we very likely would. Bakole has nasty uppercuts and fast hands for his size and, as said, he's absolutely massive. It would be a very risky fight for Moses if Bakole was in shape
Hrgovic beat J-Park in the amateurs, the semi-final of the 2010 World Youth championships, despite J-Park having been boxing 3 years longer than him J-Park turned down the opportunity to fight Hrgovic in an eliminator for a guaranteed world title shot And this lie that Moses didn't spar 12 rounds for Hrgovic has been completely debunked. Aside from Ben Davison telling Rob Tebbutt it was untrue 2 days after the fight and Fabio also debunking it, Scott Welch said one of his fighters was one of Moses' sparring partners who helped him do the 12 rounds, meaning they were putting fresh sparring partners in with Moses over those 12 rounds, and Welch said the last round was like the 1st round with Moses still going strong swinging and going for it not gassed at all
