Joshua back with Ben Davison

Probably using Davidson to try and mess with Fury.
Without Fury Davidson would still be running boxercise classes at his local YMCA.

 

That was my first thought.

 

Imagine Ben Davison spouting off some bull**** and Joshua sitting there saying "yeah, yeah" with this doofus philosopher tone. What a comedy duo. Really, it's two frauds who find comfort in like minds.

 

I think there's definitely an element of that, maybe he charges a lot less than other trainers who train world champions, too. Joshua strikes me as a character who is unwilling to learn and face any sort of serious criticism for an extended period of time- maybe as a one-off piece of advice, but if someone is barking at him and telling him he needs to sort it out, then he responds poorly, Boxercise is never going to do that.

Even if he does, he has no authority to get his fighters to listen to him. Joshua is irrelevant now anyway, outside of anything other than the Fury fight.

 

Femi ain't fighting Fury next.

It will be another "tune up" fight, a nice easy touch. It will be an opponent who is not allowed to punch back as per usual.

Femi's business model will be to avoid anyone with a live pulse, and milk the casuals dry.

Who cares about coaching technique and tactics, all that matters to Femi anyway is do my muscles look big in this? Ben Davison is the perfect personal trainer to make sure Femi maintains his nice physique.

 

I imagine itauma to be the same aswell for some reason, only exemption to that mindset imo is Fabio wardley who I don’t think would be like that

He’s had very little success with the bigger guys, sure he got fury back “in shape” but from an actual boxing tactics point of view I’m not sure he’s really improved any so to speak

 

Even Emanuel Steward wouldn't be able to help AJ now.

 

With both their stock having dropped quite a bit, AJ and Davison probably shook hands on a pretty modest trainer’s fee. I doubt Ben had much leverage at the negotiating table.

 

The very first punch Prenga throws has AJ stiffening up, sticking both arms out like a noob, and literally closing his eyes. Then he bends over at the waist to easily allow Prenga to collar-tie him and whack him with an uppercut he doesn't see coming. That's novice level buffoonery. We saw exactly the same type of stuff against Dubois when Davison was training him.

AJ is beyond help in the training department. Whatever you try to teach that guy flies right out the window once he gets in the ring and the bell goes. You just gotta hope and pray he can knock the other guy out before he gets chinned through making giant, amateur level mistakes over and over.

I think Usyk and his team deserve a lot of credit for giving AJ a safe place to hang out and train away from all the vultures in Britain. Dude needed that after that horrific car crash. Usyk especially was doing all he could to lift AJ's spirits and give him some confidence back. But they were never actually going to be able to improve him much, if any, as a fighter. AJ is who he is at this point. Luckily Fury can't crack an egg, so AJ still has all the chance in the world to batter the big fat dosser in November.

At this point, I don't see how AJ can beat Fury. He's never been able to outbox Fury. The realistic hope for AJ against Fury was always something like be able to win 3-5 rounds on his own, then win enough 10-8 rounds to put him over the top. He was never KO'ing Fury.

The issue now is that it seems AJ has absolutely no chin left. I think this now means he's in danger of being KO'd by Fury. All Fury needs to do is box, and then go for it if he hurts AJ. Fury hasn't shown any degradation in durability -- he's still relatively easy to knock down, but recovers instantly.

 

Joshua from the Usyk 2 fight is the best Joshua I have ever seen. He had a good gameplan and boxed a really good fight: it was Joshua at his peak.

Its such a shame that Robert Garcia has not managed to find another big name for his stable, because at one point he did get all of the praise he deserved, and IMO he deserves more.

 

The only way is a lucky punch. AJ still has the power and Fury is chinny.
