In boxing the prime version of Ali schools him .. an old version struggles with that odd herky jerky style (especially with Ricos size) but probably eeks it out.. in kickboxing Ali probably won't last a round.

Man I missed this thread. Probably on purpose. I said it before, the admins of this site need to give us a way to privately annotate other posters so we can remember those that say stuff like rico wins against ali (I assume we are talking some prime ali version here, not totally shot and sick old ali).

Ali is one of the greatest examples of boxing. If you pick rico here, you're just in boxing for the carnage...

I think I might code my own browser extension for this...

Yeah because today's standards are garbage. Fighters posture, cherry pick and avoid challenges see the Fury-Joshua BS.
Back in the 60's if you didn't fight you didn't earn. Simple. Purses were smaller and fighters had to fight more often without the luxury of being selective. That's why the prestigious "0" that everyone puts so much stock today in meant absolutely nothing back in the day. Losses were expected because fighters fought the best opponents they could because that where the best money was.

Of course Ali would win but I think it would be a better fight than most people will admit. And yes, I am going to remind everyone YET AGAIN, that I was one of about three guys who told everyone that Usyk-Rico was going to be a great fight.

Kickboxers can easily adapt simplified pressure styles that are rough on scientific boxers, though not so good for punchers unless they just have monster chins.

And Rico is a huge man with stamina, athleticism, and boxing training with the best for 14 years.

But yeah, Ali would break ahead and stop him mid to late.

Just adding to that: there was less money in sport period. I think muhammad ali was the highest earning athlete in the world for quite some time and I don't think he was the only boxer back then to reach that top.

I actually agree with Redbeard that Ali would have lost to Rico at 39.

Old Ali would have been absolutely mauled by a giant like Rico because his footwork was gone, his defence was eating punches and any pop in his punches was more gone than the gas in a week old open soda.

Rico would walk right through old man Mohammed.

@Redbeard7 spices up this forum with interesting, alternative, and often well-justified opinions.

It is very funny how mad some people get at him.

He lives rent free in certain other posters heads AND rent free at his mother's house, beat that!

It’s good to see this place hasn’t changed much in over 20 years. :starwars-smiley:

I agree but that isn't a measure of skill is it? Boxing evolves.

Never underestimate a giant Dutch man who can kick, knee, elbow or punch.

Ali would inflict so much bloodshed on the limited kick-boxer it would look more like Paul Verhoeven than Rico
