R.I.P. George Chuvalo.

While posting in the Tyson - Holmes thread i just read George Chuvalo has died at 89 on his birthday.

RIP George.

 

I think when Foreman died we all looked at just who is still left from those earlier era's. I was posting about who was left and gone in the Tyson - Holmes thread and happened upon George's death.

I had posted this (headstart) -

He's not far off 77 now. Frazier died at 67, Ali at 74, Foreman at 76 i think. Norton at 70. Shavers 78. Jimmy Young 56. Ron Lyle 70. Quarry 53.

Weaver is 75 still going i think. Holmes is one of the last links to that earlier era above. He was a little later than many of them but caught the back end of it. Hopefully we can get Holmes to 80 or more. He still seems to have his faculties tho i haven't seen much of him lately.

 

Chuck Wepner is alive at 87.

Mom died from dementia almost 2 years ago, early 70's. Well actually, they said she had a combination of dementia, psychosis and Alzheimers. A very aggressive and unique case apparently. It got her within a year. My auntie had the slower type. It took her 4 or 5 years to go but i believe they requested resuscitation if needed. We didn't, moms life was terrible in the treatment facility. The facility itself was awesome. She was termed a sundowner, they are not too bad thru the day but once night falls they are at their worst. A best mates mom died of it a few months ago.

The growing dementia is one of the biggest concerns in the world. Apparently there's about 57 million cased worldwide and that's projected to be 137 million by 2025. That is horrific news. I wish you the best with your mom mate.
