Shakur is the most naturally gifted fighter of that group. Garcia is near the top athletically (certainly superior to Haney and Teo), but there are other attributes (timing, innate skill etc) involved. Shakur is quite gifted atheltically and his feel for the sport is sublime.
Im a Ryan fan but Im not convinced hes improved all that much. Competition is everything and beating the likes of Barrios and the corpse of Benn doesnt say much imo. It was just a couple fights ago he was beaten comprehensively by Rolly. I hope he has though Id love to see him keep making waves.
We’ll see if Garcia keeps up with this momentum. I think becoming undisputed at 147 doesn’t seem like an impossible task for him based on how he looked against Benn.
Set aside that he openly stated this has been a horrible weight cut, as I know people will say he was preloading an excuse... he rehydrated almost 25lbs within 10 hours of the weigh in. Thats not the night of the fight, thats 10 hours after weighing in. He gained back more weight in 10 hours then most fighters do in the 24 hours leading up to the fight. Ryan was 151 in comparison. Night of the fight its plausible Benn regained 30lbs. You typically dont gain back 25lbs in 10 hours or 30 in 24 if you had a good cut.
Remember when they said Ryan weighed more than Haney in their fight and then tried to lock Serge in an insane asylum for saying Haney was much bigger? This content is protected Haney was coming in at 155-160 at 135, 165 at 140, and must be easily 170 at 147 Ryan coming in at 151 at 147
4 years later and he still hasn't improved, he is the same exact fighter. Benn is.........................simply not good. Rolly isn't either but Rolly is a legit puncher.
kid's got a long neck and likes to smile for the cameras. can't do that and hide your chin simultaneously. i remain unconvinced.
