you’re betting on Shakur via stoppage? weird bet. he wouldn’t even take the slightest risk against Teo to go for a stoppage, you think he’s going to against Ryan?

I’d bet on a lopsided decision by Shakur. Ryan has flaws that Shakur will see in an instant and exploit.

 

Compare lopez' defense and counters to garcias. Compare lopez' footwork with garcias.

I think stevenson can do what he wants with garcia. And I think there will be less coming back at times.It will be easier to control garcia who has a lot less poise than lopez. And garcias mind will let him be all over the place by round 8. Look at how he approached the davis fight

Btw I wonder whether both garcia and benn were on something in their fight. Was there strict testing?

 

Shakur is a very very good boxer people get that twisted because of his Twitter rants.

Ryan is bigger than him probably but Shakur is very defensively responsible and controls distance beautifully.

 

Much more entertaining at the very least.

I've been a big Shakur fan since his amateur days. I think he does just about everything better than Ryan but I have a few concerns.

1) Ryan can match Shakur's speed. I think its quite possible that Ryan can close the distance and land big shots. His right hand has improved and gives Shakur an additional problem.
2) Height and reach advantage, Ryan has an advantage in both categories. Shakur thrives at long range and being at a safe distance. Shakur will be in range more than usual
3) Shakur has not faced many dangerous punchers and certainly not any that are as fast or athletic as Garcia

I have been critical of Garcia in the past on here and have picked against him in several fights. I have questioned his dedication or attitude. I think he has overcome these criticisms for now. I think he takes the sport more seriously, I think his attitude is better, and he seems really focused and getting the most out of himself. I still don't like the following:

1) He leaves his chin out in the air with his head in the middle with straight legs. He makes himself an easy target but his speed, power, height and reach often discourage opponents from taking advantage
2) I don't like the way he reacts to getting hit, he turns his back, he leaves his body open. I just feel the weird shoulder roll bend over defense is going to be a liability against elite fighters who can punch
3) He won easily last night but he fought with a lot of adrenaline and nervous energy at times looking uncomfortable in there. Now he executed well so it did not matter but I just don't think he is going to be able to do this against elite opponents.

I could see this being like Mayweather vs Judah where the fast and athletic opponent with power troubles the better schooled and more patient counter puncher. I can see this fight being edge of the seat for 5 or 6 rounds. I do think that to beat Garcia you have to hurt him and gain his respect. He carries his power late in fights and remains fast. I lean Shakur but think this is the fight to make right now between the "Four Kings"

I do wonder if 140 might be his ceiling

 

Surely more action, yeah. I do enjoy watching Shakur, though.

 

Of course Shakur should be a heavy favorite - BUT boxing is weird, and maybe he will present something stylistically that troubles Shakur.

Ricardo Mayorga was certainly not supposed to be Vernon Forrests kryptonite.. Not saying they’re all similar, but there is an obvious difference in skills.

For a more relevant example… Ryan was expected to get his ears boxed off by Haney..
