Meldrick Taylor vs Ryan Garcia at 135, 140, and 147

He wouldn't have to take those telegraphed bombs. He would avoid them and land plenty of his own return fire.

 

Taylor had a chin on him before the first Chavez fight; he was winning on the cards in the 12th and then.... He got stopped in the rematch by the 8th far easier because his chin had already been cracked. This is why i'm saying people have often the wrong idea about Meldrick as a fighter with a shaky chin which wasn't the case for 11 rds in the first Chavez fight

 

Taylor went toe to toe too much and Garcia has super quick hands.

 

Garcia punches harder than any light welter, his punches are devastating.

 

Threw better combos and didn't fall off-balance the way Garcia does.

 

My goodness..... Legitimate question: How long have you been watching boxing?

 

i don't know about current ryan.
ryan will have to beat the other champions before i consider him against past fighters.

Garcia's flashier, i agree. And it's the punch you don't see that hurts you......
Then why did Romero's chin stood up to Garcia's punches after it was already seriously cracked twice beforehand ?? Do you think Chavez would have trouble with Romero ??

 

I have come around on Garcia, he has impressed me lately. However he still does two things I don't like:

1) stands straight up and down with his chin in the air
2) when he gets hit he does that bad shoulder roll and turns his back

While I think Garcia's attitude, focus and recent performances have been good I also have to acknowledge that the two guys he just beat were the type of opponents he should look good against. I would like to see more from him before crowning him in fantasy match ups.
