Bivol vs Beterbiev III is possible for April of 2027

I heard that Bivol vs Beterbiev 3 will be on the undercard of the Fury / Joshua fight, whenever it gets made.

I hope Bivol ages faster than Beterbiev and the latter beats the crap out of Bivol for trying to be a smartass.

 

Bivol has taken liberties with this 3rd fight

 

Smith has had a difficult four title fights - Groves (old version but still a quality fighter), Alvarez, Beterbiev, Bivol. If he was fighting in a weaker era he might have even had an impressive reign as a champ. Respect that he looks to challenge himself against the very best.

 

Bivol fights his mandatory in December, I think that's fair.

 

Smith self sabotaged his career for years trying to be a weight bully at 168. When he was coming up you saw more dynamic performances and quick destructions. Then his performances gradually started to become more lethargic and he struggled especially in longer fights. Smith at 175 is much closer to his full potential. Look at how he started brutally laying out guys again, winning rough 12 round fights against prospects/rising contenders like Buatsi. Clenelo vs Smith at 175 would have looked very different.

 

The first fight should've been 6-7 years ago, the 3rd fight should've been when they first fought. Nobody cares anymore.

 

Oh boy! They're going to fight SEVEN MONTHS from now! So, it'll only be two years and two months since Beterbiev fought last?

When I was a kid, I used to read how guys like Dempsey, Tunney, Sharkey, Schmeling, Baer, Braddock ... rarely defended the title. Once a year, maybe. If that. And I could never understand how fans remained interested.

Because I got interested in boxing when champions defended three or four times a year, routinely.

Now it's happening again, and I still wonder how people stay interested. Especially today, when there's a lot more to occupy a person's time.

I hope this non-fighting era ends soon, and it's another 90 or 100 years before it comes back around again. It's a real interest-killer.
