Completely different from all duologies; a rematch after 17 years

 

Pat Lawlor vs Roberto Duran II was nine years in the making!

 

Hi Guys.
I don't have a fav as such, and lots of truly good fights been mentioned no doubt, staying at home, the Lang / Jones fights were pretty good, boy could that Jones bang, I have him beating Stracey, Green, Curvis, and Charles, but the duo that lingers is the two fights for the British BW title between the youthful, handsome, Johnny Clark, and his nemesis the dour, tough, non glamorous Liverpudlian, Alan Rudkin, who really should be written and spoken about much more, not a champ granted, but he gave ATG Harada fits, and boxed very well up against Lionel Rose, only Olivares showed the depth of class, no shame there, the first was a gruelling encounter, the much fresher Clark was fancied to overthrow the champ in some style, Rudkin didn't read the script, he fought tooth and nail with the smooth boxing south Londoner, after 10 rounds Clarks face was showing the wear and tear of a fierce battle, Clark started well, raking Alan with fast combos, for 6/8 rounds it looked like the younger fighter would prevail, but the seasoned old pro brought all his experience and guile into play, and pulled back the deficit, and by the 12th Clark was finished, the return was not quite up to the same standard, but still a bruising affair, again the old champ came out on top, have met Alan at a boxing funtion many, many, years ago, he was a nice humble man, quiet and unassuming, he didn't look that well, but he was polite and friendly, I think he is the forgotten man of British boxing, which is sad, he was a true pro, and a fine fighter.
