Is this the start of these overpaid fighters now realising their true worth He's obviously been overpaid by Turkey and become a multimillionaire without actually doing anything of note in the sport. Now Turkey is not paying for the fight, his possible purse against Janibek looks to be around 500-600k? It also looks like he was having a moan about the purse bid and how low its going to be compared to his previous earnings on the Ring podcast with that Versace dude.
How does this fight even happen with a bid that low? Janibek was a unified champion, and now he's being asked to fight for what, £180k or thereabouts, in a ball-breaking fight against Hamzah, which is pretty much a 50-50. Either of them in with Conor Benn would be the ideal. Edit : 99.9 % chance this fight does not happen.
Sheeraz falling for that ''Turkei's favourite fighter'' line just like poor Mark Chamberlain did a few years ago. They really thought they'd be paid 7 figures a fight. Truth is these Saudi oil gangsters would literally throw the loser of a fight to lions if they could get away with it. Sheeraz should be very grateful for what he's already made, he has no fan base whatsoever and isn't exactly Julian Jackson when it comes to excitement either.
He has 1 fight left with QP. So I guess he will end up with Zuffa? Even with the bid being low, hard to see how QP make much money out of it? 2 fights in the UK since 2024, no idea how many people watched his last two fights? Like how many tickets does this sell as a headline
Maybe this is Frank throwing him to the wolves after realising he is off to Zuffa. If that is the case I can't blame Bricktop at all; it would put a tremendous smile on my face for Dana White to have Benn and Sheeraz on his books just after they have been mercilessly exposed.
The entitlement of some of these fighters. Hamzah saying this fight, it's not worth it for him if his purse is considerably less than his last fight purse. These idiots think they should receive multi millions per fight. Eddie Earn is right in some respects. There's no hidden pot that gets taken by the promotors. It's pretty simple. Hamzah should look at what he'll generate in gate receipts, what the TV networks will pay him, what the sponsors will pay him and then deduct what it will cost to run the show. That's his fight purse. I suspect, there won't be millions left over like he and a lot of other stupid fighters absurdly think.
Looks like he's vacated. What a pusssy. If Hamzah thinks he's that good fight Janibek and solidify your name in the division. He's had his multi million pay days already. Those multi million paydays would have come around again if he made himself into a star like Conor Bent did. This content is protected
Without being funded by a vanity project, his market value just isnt high. Like I cannot believe QP would make a penny out of the World Title fight. So hard to know what sort of sized fan base he has
He's what Frank would call a trade fighter. One for the hardcores. He definitely isnt a money spinner/cash cow like Ryan Garcia, Conor Bent, Chris Eubank Jr, Jake Paul, AJ, Tyson Fury or even any of the top attractions at Misfits. He needs to accept this. His only way to become like the aforementioned is to either create headlines/controversy or reign for a very long time. He won't and can't do either.
This content is protected Warned about this 2 years ago, that the over-inflated Saudi purses are going to mess the market up. We’ll see less of a focus on belts going forward I’d imagine. It’s happening with Opetaia and Zuffa.
Janibek is all wrong for Sheeraz who is pretty basic and has limited boxing ability. This is a duck with the excuse the purse is too low. Janibek and his team knew what they were doing when they stuck it on him. good for them.
He’s been marketed really badly. The guy has model-tier looks (no homo), is well spoken and well mannered inside and outside the ring. His downside is that he’s probably not the most fan friendly fighter. He still has potential to go mainstream but needs to be promoted far better. As for vacating the belt, this is a consequence of the Saudi overpayments. Inflated everyone’s perception of their worth. We all knew this would happen.
I personally don't think he's been marketed badly. There's nothing about him. There's no edge. There's nothing that makes people want to tune into his fights. He's beige. Neutral. People don't like him nor do they hate him and that's the problem. He will never be able to sell tickets unless he shines through with his talent and beats a bunch of top guys, or unless he becomes a sort of marmite kind of guy that attracts attention. Being a solid fighter just doesn't get you paid.
