Poll: Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois II

While I agree with you for the most part, I'm still hesitant to go the extra step and say Wardley will win this one.

One thing's for sure: He needs to review the tape not only of his first fight with Dubois ... but Itauma's mistakes vs. Hrgovic -- because there's a ton of similarity. Namely, throwing wild round-house whiffs, swinging for the fences on every other punch, missing consistently and tiring himself out. Wardley needs to figure out how to use his jab, pace himself, and tie Dubois up frequently. And use his feet -- movement. Give Dubois angles. Easier-said-than-done, to be sure; Wardley's no Usyk .... but we certainly know that if he follows the same gameplan as the first fight -- try to outslug Dubois toe-to-toe, face-to-face, he may get a whupping worse than the last....

 

Wardley was winging punches because of Dubois' fast feet and power jab, while Itauma was gassed after the third round and just went berserk. Same outcome, which is the winging of shots, but totally different reasons why. Wardley's issues are basically impossible to fix in an immediate rematch, while Ituama is relatively easier to fix but will still take a while. Dubois by KO.

 

Dubois' main foul in the Wardley fight was the use of the elbow, not the headbutt. The cuts and swelling Wardley suffered were from Dubois' punches. The thing is, Hrgovic used his forearm against Itauma, but no one mentions it because he is a more likable figure than Dubois. I personally think that, within reason, certain minor fouls should go unpunished to keep the flow of the fight. Dubois and Hrgovic both won their fights legitimately.

 

Wardley can punch but really has the one big right and that's it. Dubois was able to neutralize it.

If Wardley can threaten the left he makes this more interesting. Dubois wisely took knees in the first fight and prevented follow up when he was buzzed.

Wardley could always land the bomb of course or fight smarter and prolong his chances deeper into the fight

I expect Dubois to box smarter and win easier this time but who knows

 

Dubois also brought out the Greco Roman for that fight. He full on tackled Wardley after the first knockdown.

 

Dirty D is the most dirty fighter in the sport. Elbows, headbutts, wrestling takedowns, low blows, forearm smashing you name it. Gane is his counterpart in MMA. If Dubois could eye poke in boxing he would.

 

Wardley winged a shot, while Dubois initiated a clinch. Since Wardley was off balance, he fell backward, and Dubois fell with him while holding on. It was not an intentional wrestling takedown, and it did not change the outcome of the fight.

 

Dubois' fouling in general had a massive impact on the fight.

 

There’s definitely chance that wardley wins- he’s the sort of guy you can’t ever write off - but I don’t think he’s multi dimensional enough from a boxing point of view to change anything up massively, i genuinely believe the more he tries to reinvent his approach the less chance he has, his strength is almost in his inexperience/rawness

My head says Dubois, easier than last time, he’s not only the one with the momentum but has better boxing IQ and is much more likely to be able to learn from the first fight mistakes and adapt than wardley is imo

 

Wardley can't box with Dubois for 12 rounds. He just doesn't have the boxing pedigree. His only real chance is blowing Dubois out early, otherwise he gets the same beatdown. I don't see how he can learn to boxing in 6 months.

 

The fight should have been later in the year as already mentioned but Wardley can win this fight and has shown he can perform better in a rematch,my only worry is the baseball pitcher in the corner.lets see what gameplan he comes up with this time !

 

dubois is extremely dirty fighter, he is able to change the course of fights he is losing with fouls, and his low intelligence leads to a strong moral compass so he is not impeded by guilt like others. however i do not think he will need to employ these dirty tactics, his jab lands like a bomb and he hit fabio with it at will

 

His jab is massively underrated imo

 

yeah i think its his best punch. the right hand and left hook are strong but they come wide

 

Fab has a good chin and I reckon he's going to throw caution to the wind. I think he will put it on Dubois from the 1st bell and stop him in the mid rounds.
