Poll: Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois II

I think that Dubois will win again as Wardley doesn't have the experience and isn't savvy enough to deal with Dubois dirty tactics. Lets face it Dubois is going to get away with the same **** like he does in every fight no referee ever seems to pull him up. I do hope that Wardley can surprise us and spark him out.

 

Dubois in a blowout this time. Wardley is done.

 

I think this will be like Choco - Rungvisai 2, like @Chuck Norris said. Those last few rounds were an extreme, career (and likely life) altering beating. Wardley is actually talented but being such a late comer to the sport, and this being an immediate rematch, I can't see how he can make the kinds of large technical adjustments that he actually needs. He also needs an intuitive, spur of the moment ring iq that he has simply never developed given his late start and lower number of bouts. This of course isn't helped by having Boxercise Ben in his corner again (why Fabio WHY?). His actual shot selection is also woeful and, again, I just don't see how well he can improve it in so little time and with no tune ups. He might start well but he'll quickly revert to type imo and start slugging one dimensionally.

In comparison you have DDD who is well schooled at a fundamental level, especially with his jab and basic foot movement. When the going gets tough he always knows to revert to his basics almost like a robot and eventually get out of tough spots. Dubois is also mentally a very on top fighter. Now he knows he can beat Wardley he'll be like a dog with a bone and keep going till he forces the outcome again. The only times he's ever quite are when he saw there was no chance of winning.

There's also the fact, which isn't usually mentioned, that Wardley's nose is absolutely ****ed. I can legitimately see Dubois splitting it (with jabs or fouls) and forcing a doctor stoppage.

Also I'm not one for the body language fluff usually but I thought Wardley looked legitimately intimidated by Dubois in the ring when they faced off. Possible mental scars there too.

Prediction: Dubois stops him even earlier this time.

 

He's definitely the dirtiest fighter in the top HW division right now.

But If that jab starts finding its target it's (most likely) Game Over. Dubois even knocked out Fabio's gumshield with a jab one time during the fight.

 

He hadn't developed those tactics until Usyk 1 when he first had Don Charles as his trainer. All of a sudden he started to employ low blows, elbows and headbutts like someone deranged. He also started to use the phrase "by any means necessary", and even told the press he was going to use dirty tactics vs Usyk 1.

I might be wrong but I don't think he utilized those dark arts when he had Shane Mcguigan as his coach.

Anyway, Usyk is the only one who was able to negate Dubois' fouling in the 2nd fight.

 

I'd say the punches to Wardley's face had more to do with it

 

I would give Wardley a chance if this fight did not happen so soon; 5 months is not enough to recover from that brutal beating and to then get in optimal shape, not to mention the required technical changes.

 

Wardley needs to do something other than throw wild, looping overhand rights. He just wouldn't stop, even when he was missing by a mile and getting countered. Bad corner and low ring-IQ.
