I think you need to be more specific.

We can go back a lot further than Leonard etc.

What proof have you got that they’re stronger?

    Faster?

There’s been fast guys all throughout history.

Apart from HW, the sizes are a myth.

Again, that just because we’ve got more divisions and a day before weigh-in.

Not because of the evolution of man.

    The WW’s today are bigger.

But only because of the weigh-rules.

Today’s WW’s, would have been MW’s in the past. And especially with only 8 divisions.

Apart from HW, there is ho evidence that they are faster, bigger and stronger.

Not if you make allowances for divisions and the same day weigh-ins.

They’re also definitely not fitter on average.

The circumstances of the fighters of the past made them fitter than the average fighter of today.

Monzons opponents take a fat **** all over GGGs. That's not even up for debate so I'm not getting into it. Using their losses is just as laughable as using punch stats. Also what is your angle here? Monzon - who's defence is better both in reality and statistically - fought worse opponents than Golovkin so Golovkin's defence is good? When that's not even remotely true?

Yeah let's hear you **** on Antonio Margarito and Manny Pacquiao for losing early in their careers next. When you understand that draws in South America in the 50s, 60s & 70s happened so often because you had to win a fight by 4 points or more, you can come back to me on that. At least one of those fights is a loss on two cards, and at least one is a win by unanimous decision.

Let's not start calling eachother delusional here when you start with an outcome you like and work backwards from there to justify it. You have said literally nothing about their skill levels to me. You've brought up Monzon to defend GGG, looked at a few records and brought up career long punch stats

I ask again, where did I say or imply that Robinson was a defensive wizard?

You need to specify an exact time.

Because we can go further back than Leonard’s era.

There’s no proof that they were slower and not as strong.

They were certainly fitter back then.

They had to be due to their circumstances.

    Bigger?

    Apart from HW, no.

Again, not when you take into account the number of divisions and the change in weigh-ins.

Stylistically, there's nothing that seperates Buddy Baer from Oscar De La Hoya but you guys aren't ready to hear that.

Oh so defensive, oh so condescending young man! You're getting bitchier the older you get! You have ****ing idea if Monzon's opponents **** all over GGG's because you haven't watched all of them, and the ones you have watched, you refuse to see their flaws. You're mostly just parroting nonsense you've read elsewhere or convinced yourself of. Like most of the people on this site that post in Classic.

    Don’t be an idiot.

    It’s based upon their ability.

    Their attributes.

How they’d have matched up stylistically.

Go and look at today’s top 15 HW’s.

Then tell me that they couldn’t have competed.

Again, a guy with the EXACT same dimensions as Ali, is the current HW king.

    What about Mike Tyson?

He’d probably beat all of today’s guys, including Usyk.

It would be a horrible stylistic match up for Usyk.

Now shall I list you the guys who either troubled or beat: Wlad, Vitali, Fury and Lewis etc?

The weigh in makes this problematic
In order to be fair the rules would have to be the same.
Result of this would be that most fighters of today would be in a higher division or most from the past could fight in a lower weight class.
Heavyweight doesn’t have a limit but a lot of guys that were just over 200 could fight at cruiserweight if we allow day before weigh in for all.
Great fighters would have been great in any era. Going backwards they may not be champions as there weren’t as many belts.
The GGG vs SRR seems kind of disrespectful to both.
Seems unlikely they would have fought, especially considering the weigh in. Neither of them is getting dominated. There are fighters that would be favoured over one another but few of the real greats get clobbered outside of stylistic nightmare fights like Frazier vs Foreman etc
I really hate the weight issue. It has ruined meaningful comparisons between eras because it’s rarely acknowledged

    Yes.

    It’s a JOKE.

You have modern guys dismantling guys like Robinson and Louis.

    Who are these guys??

    Yes, they had flaws.

Today’s guys also have flaws, that they too could have exploited.

Also, even if you could design your perfect fighter, it still wouldn’t be enough to be able to have easily beaten everyone.

Simply because there’s just too many different styles and sizes to overcome.

That’s the beauty of the sport.

Not weird, just honest. You've gotten really smug, unlikable and annoying. You're just as full of **** as everyone else, but inexplicably seem to think you're better. Which you're not.

    Great post.

We have these new generations of fans who assume that everything newer is better, and that man is bigger today.

The evolution of man kind etc.

    All nonsense.

The WW’s are bigger than the WW’s of yesterday.

Not because of the evolution of man.

But because they squeeze down to 147, then rehydrate by ridiculous amounts, where some of them are literally 160 plus on fight night.

That’s not the evolution of mankind.

    That’s just different weigh-in rules.

    Yes, they’re bigger.

But if there were less divisions and same day weigh-ins, then most of today’s WW’s would have been yesterday’s MW’s.

The same goes for every other division apart from HW.

If same day weigh-ins ever come back, then most fighters would have to move up at least one division.

No... your thinking is a joke and always has been. I get it, you're married to an idea and cling to it desperately. No one is going to tear it away from you, no matter how hard they try. You're very stubborn, but so am I, so we're not changing one another's opinion.

Also, where did I have modern guys dismantling Louis and Robinson? I said most of them, not all. Obviously those two are slightly higher level. I posed a question and asked for hot takes. The only opinion I've given is that GGG beats Robinson. Which is hardly egregious.

You can’t say this, when you’re saying that guys like Robinson would get dismantled with ease.

Also, if you’re going to be fair and allow for the difference in weigh-ins, then Robinson’s opposition today would actually be today’s LW’s to LWW’s.

    Why?

Because today’s WW’s would have been MW’s in his era.
