Bassie, neither JC or Hatton got the treatment on the way up Khan is getting now. Both took the 'traditional' way up of fighting on undercards not on PPVs.

Calzaghe - Supported him since the beginning. I just wish he fights Pavlik if he beats Jones and then retires because even the haters couldn't have a problem with him then.

Hatton - I used to love him but not arsed these days. Mainly because of his style of fighting since the Tszyu fight it's really put me off him. He should retire after the Malignaggi fight and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him lose. I believe he's finished.

Haye - Hate his cockiness and arrogance but he is quite funny at times. Will be even funnier if he gets layed spark out in his first fight at heavy or if he fights Klitscho.

Khan - Not keen on the person at all and I hate the hype. I have to admit I love his style at times, his hand speed his frightening but the hype is ridiculous. He's a knockout waiting to happen and I will love it when it happens.

That's not what I meant. They were both steered to irrelevant titles and spent most of their career fighting nobodies and/or boxers from lower weightclasses.

I did support all four, but I don't care about Calzaghe any more.

In fact Calzaghe is the only British fighter's career I've ever completely just given up on.

Khan's biggest fights in world class are ahead.
Hatton's already fought the best in the world.
Haye's fought the best at cruiser and his big fights at heavyweight are in front of him.

Calzaghe didn't fight the best in the world when they were around him, and any fights ahead are poor in comparison. I can't support a fighter wasting his best opportunities and settling for fighting the past-prime version of former greats he could have fought when it really meant something.

It doesn''t equal Jones-Calzaghe when Roy was p4p #1 though does it.

yes, but thats not all calzaghes fault F warren and RJJ had something to do with it, in fact roy admitted he wanted none of calzaghe

doesn't equel RJJ/calzaghe a few years ago, but i'll settle for it and it will be more even because had joe met roy when roy was at his peak than he would've done the chicken dance

Haye is the only one I would cheer for. In comparison with the other three was matched hard on the way up; showed everyone that one loss on the record is not the end of the world. Fast, slick, powerful and vulnerable; whats not to like (personality might not be everyone's cup of tea I suppose)

Hatton - I don't have any problems with the personality, just hate to watch him in the ring (a truly terrible spectacle since the fight with Kostya).

Khan - China-chinned hype magnet. His personality doesn't help either.

Calzaghe - Took steps in the right direction in the last few years with some big fights. Not a big fan of his style or his match-up with RJJ. I could be swayed back to his side if he beats Roy and signs for a match with Pavlik.

I've posted in many threads on this subject, I can't be bothered to go through it all again.

    In short...
If he really wanted to fight Roy why didn't he fight at light heavyweight, why didn't he fight in America, why didn't he leave Warren if it was his fault?

Roy didn't want the fight because he was the p4p #1 fighter in the world, who held all belts at light heavyweight. Why would he WANT to fight the 168 pound WBO title holder with no name, who never fought outside Europe?

Are you convinced he wanted to fight Jones when he was great? I'm not.

Yeh, it is likely. But I would have loved to see that fight around 2002 when British boxing was dying on it's arse.

I'd always take a huge event like Mayweather-Hatton and the Brit losing badly over Hatton-Smith.

I'd have taken Calzaghe-Jones and Calzaghe losing badly over Calzaghe-Pudwill at the time.

Many were building up Pudwill as the white Hagler in fairness

    Haye, Hatton & JC.

I can't be arsed with Khan, once he considers stepping up and taking on some serious competition, instead of swanning around, having his promoter hand-pick opponents while he lords it as Britains best prospect ... then I may consider supporting him.

Until then, I'll be rooting for whatever underdog he's up against.
