1. Marco Antonio Barrera

There is always that fighter who gets you into sport, and this happened when it was announced Barrera would be fighting England's very own Naseem Hamed. As it turns out, Barrera thoroughly outboxed the heavy favourite, and I was in awe of his technical ability. When Pacquiao beat him, I was crushed and loved him even more for recieving such a beatdown and never giving in. Marco Antonios is the epitomy of the modern game as far as I'm concerned, and I will support his comeback.

2. Muhammad Ali

I have seen every fight he has been in, and I like everybody else laugh at his interviews and his charisma. The man bragged, but he backed it up and that is what a lot of modern fighters forget to do. He fought everybody around, cleared out his division twice, and was a superior athlete to all the other Heavyweights around in his day. He's my hero.

3. Juan Manuel Marquez

When he fought Manny Pacquiao, and was able to overcome those first round knockdowns to thoroughly outbox Pacquiao, I was shocked. His technical ability was striking, poety in motion. When he fought Barrera, I was obviously not rooting for him, but I was further impressed when he outboxed a fighter of Barrera's quality, even if he was in his advanced years. Juan Manuel Marquez is the best fighter in the world today in my humble opinion.

4. Alexis Arguello

Nobody had a better right hand than this guy, and nobody was nicer in the world of Boxing. He took on the hardest challenges, fighting Aaron Pryor instead of lesser fighters for the alphabet titles. He was a devstating puncher with both hands, and never showed distain for his opponent. What is not to like?

5. Sugar Ray Leonard

Fought and beat them all in his day, and was one of the most talented and gifted fighters ever to lace them up. His win over Hagler is one of the greatest wins of all time considering the lay off and the weight. I ignore all the political rubbish, when he stepped in the ring he was all business, and nobody looked better doing it.

 

We had a thread about this a while back, same here, i too have Barrera to thank. I was always a boxing fan, but the transaction from fan to FANATIC was because of the same fight that got you into the sport. Was a massive Barrera fan, still now aswell. Though for some reason, i do tend to lean more towards Morales in the favouritism area now, in hindsight. Would never have breathed them words while the rivalry was on though! What a traitor!!

Hi friends, here´s my list.

1. Ali. During the 60´s he was so fast, impossible to hit. During the
70´s he was not as fast but still incredible and fast enough. There is
no way I can chose any special fight, cause he was involved in to
many. He is simply the greatest of all time.

2. Sugar Ray Leonard. That handspeed, the way he tricked and moved
in the ring. What he did against Duran in the second fight and how
he fought and outsmarted Hagler is something that has inspired me
so much. Sugar Ray Leonard is nr 2, nothing can make me change
that.

3. Joe Frazier - Well Ali wouldn´t be so great if it wasn´t for smokin
joe. Pure fighting machine and I have never seen anyone be as hard
as him. Great at bob and weave. Pure smoke and no joke!

4. Roy Jones jr - Flashy, and fast as h...! No Leonard, no Ali but still.
Great fighter

5. Mike Tyson - Fast lethal and you knew when he landed one of his
punches it could be over, no matter where he landed it.

this is my favourite boxers of all time. Thinking of how Ali and Leonard boxed just make me smile all day, boxing can be wonderful.

So, I have four fighters who always were my favourites and always will be, in no order:

Jack Johnson
Max Schmeling
Roberto Duran
Bernard Hopkins

So, now the 5th place is decedid between a figther that became a three-weight champ when there was only one belt per weightclass and led a very interesting live outside the ring and another fighter who just makes me awe each time I see him fight. But well since I have two fighters who fought before WW2 and two fighters who fought after WW2, I pick as fifth a fighter who fought in WW2 and even became a war hero:
