Guzman has'nt fought since his fight against Soto and that will be 10 months by the time he fights Campbell. Though I am a fan of Guzman I think the layoff might hurt him more than fighting at a new weight class. Even with those two factors in mind I'm still picking Guzman by close UD.

at his age that might be beneficial

+ judging from Boxrec it looks like he's used to it

Guzman is going to take Nate to school with or without the long layoff. Nate is not on Guzman's level.

I wonder what the purse is..

I don't think it hurts Guzman at all. Now if it was like a year and a half to two years, then maybe.

With Guzman's style based so heavily on timing and reflexes it certainly could. Definately a possibility.

Guzman's defense is just as good as Floyd jr's. He still got some work on footwork.

    Nope, it wont effect him

He had an 11 month layoff before fighting Humberto Soto and he looked invincible in that fight.

It might, or it might not. Floyd Sr. realizes this and I'm sure will do everything he has to do to make sure Joan has no ring rust.

That and the fact that he's moving up to face a strong willed vet who will refuse to lose.

Guzman was already a badass before Floyd Sr. start training him. Already have a great defense too.

I remember reading Ring magazine and they made a very good comparison saying that Mayweather vs. Margarito would resemble Guzman vs. Soto.
