The Young HIGHLY dangerous David Tua

That double 1-2 that Bellochi lands at 1:36 is quite beautiful actually. I can't see it well because of the low Youtube quality, but the last one seems to land flush on his chin. No effect, of course.

Tua's left hook could've layed anyone out. I don't think his jabbing was really that effective, however.

 

Actually, I think Tua is a bit overrated. He was a solid contender with a solid resume but he never was as good as some people make him. That he never was able to grab a belt despite worse fighters getting one should tell you enough about him.

 

I agree to certain extend. People love big punching power + iron chin. But other than that, he was rather limited. Rahman (yes, Rahman) pretty much out boxed him twice, but won one controversially and should've lost the other. He didn't win a single round against Lewis and looked completely clueless. Byrd out boxed him and hurt him with body shots.

Few could beat him standing toe-to-toe (though Ibeabuchi did or nearly did), but skilled boxers clearly gave him more than he could handle. Be that as it may, he still had plenty to pick up a belt somewhere down the line, so yeah, he is an underachiever.

 

Here is Lewis/Tua, Lewis is the superior fighter he is too quick and big for Tua to land on him, but what is amazing is Tua can take Lewis's power it must hurt him but he doesn't show it, the overhand rights that smashed Tyson and Rahman, the uppercut that wobbled Klitschsko and had him hanging on for a round, Tua shakes off. Strong points for Lewis but if Tua had found a home a few times for that left hook a different fight.

By the way, some people say Felix Savon knocked Tua "out cold" in the amateurs. It's true that he stopped him (inside of 30 seconds, in fact), but he wasn't out cold. He got up at 7 or so and probably would've been allowed to continue if it was in the pro's.

He was hurt though. Savon was one hell of a skilled, master boxer who connected with a short right hand, precisely on the jaw.

the fights I really wanted to see him in was vs Holyfield, Tyson, And Bowe. None happened which is why I never considered him as fulfilling his full potential
